GlobalFit III: Week 8

Y3Week8Another poor week, with only 2 days over the 5000 step mark.  Monday was helped out by a trip over to North plaza for a division meeting.  No real clue about the rest of the week at this point.  Again, as pointed out the other day, my allergies are playing a role at this point of the year, keeping me inside more than I’d like.  But, at some point, that excuse only gets me so far.

GlobalFit III: Week 5

Y3Week5Overall, it was a pretty good week with 4 days over the 5000 step mark and a 5th just missing.  Most of the days involved trips from South to North plaza, either for meetings or smoothies.  Friday also had the ramp from the UD down to the parking lot following another disappointing White Sox loss.  Saturday’s total is actually pretty impressive considering I was up all night thanks to release issues.

Total steps: 39,664

GlobalFit III: Week 3

Y3Week3Overall, it was not a great week, though that will be masked somewhat thanks to Saturday’s huge total, which ranks as my second highest day since I started this endeavor 2 years and 3 weeks ago.  Only 3 days crossed the 5000 step day, although one of them far surpassed it and made the overall numbers for the week look good.

My main goal for this year’s BTN Big 10K 5K race was to beat my time from last year, which was 54:10.  In that regard, I guess you would have to say I failed, as my time was 40 seconds slower, at 54:50, good enough for 3981st place out of 4132 total participants.  That said, I could have improved my time, but there was a group of us walking together and the social aspects kept us all together.

After the race, I hurried back to the Metra station from the museum campus, which was a hike in and of itself, and then put in some more steps by starting to walk home from the train station after my ride mysteriously did not show up.

GlobalFit III: Week 2

Y3Week2Overall, it was a disappointing week, with only 2 days over 5000 steps.  But those 2 days were way over, both breaking 9000 and Friday nearing 12,000.  Monday’s total was thanks to 2 meetings in North Plaza, with an hour in between, so I had to make 2 trips.  Friday had the exciting double feature of a trip to North for smoothies at Red Mango and a train ride to the Cell for exciting White Sox baseball and a trip down the ramps afterwards.

Total steps: 40,064

Last year, I set a goal of surpassing the 4,000,000 step mark by today, 7/11/2013.  For many different reasons, I missed the mark by a wide margin, with a little less than 450,000 steps to go.  Things have started to pick up lately, though, so I feel confident in making another stretch goal for next year.  So, without further ado:

By this date next year, I will have surpassed the 5,750,000 plateau, racking up just under 2.25 million steps.  Good luck to me.
