FB10: Week 33

A blah week despite the Labor Day holiday followed by a couple of days off of work.  The week, and month, got off to a slow start on Sunday, finishing with just 3000 steps.  Things improved a bit on Monday as I rose to 3800 steps.  A day off of work on Tuesday pushed me up again to 4400 steps.  Trips to the hardware store on Wednesday to look for a new toilet seat led to my best outing of the week, garnering 5200 steps.  A return to work on Thursday saw a big drop-off, leaving me 32 steps shy of 3500.  A small rebound on Friday pushed me back up to 3600 steps.  The week wrapped up with another improvement on Saturday, as I fell 2 steps shy of 3700.

A small decline thanks to what may have been my first infection with COVID.  The week got off to a good start on Sunday, finishing with 5100 steps thanks to a trip to Guaranteed Rate Field.  Things fell off a bit on Monday, coming in with 4300 steps.  Despite a positive test on Tuesday night, I managed to increase my total, needing 35 more steps to reach 4400.  An inconclusive test on Wednesday morning convinced me it was ok to head out for a team lunch, but I finished with only 3000 steps and another positive test at night.  A slight improvement on Thursday pushed me up to 3600 steps.  Despite a negative test on Friday, I managed only 2700 steps.  A second negative test on Saturday led to another trip to the ballpark, gathering 5400 steps as I watched the White Sox tie their franchise record for losses in a season.

A nice improvement this week thanks in part to multiple baseball games.  The week got off to a decent start on Sunday, coming only 8 steps shy of 4400.  Things fell off a bit on Monday, as I needed 21 more steps to reach 3800.  Tuesday bounced back up, surpassing 4300 steps.  A trip to Wrigley Field on Wednesday night left me a mere 7 steps away from 6400.  Another dip on Thursday dropped me back down to 2400 steps.  There was a big improvement on Friday thanks to Elvis night at Guaranteed Rate Field, which left me 17 steps short of 6500.  A slow day of recovery after on Saturday saw me needing 27 additional steps to get to 3300.

A slight drop-off this week, as I failed once again to cross the 30,000-step plateau.  The week got off to a slowish start on Sunday, finishing with 3700 steps.  Things fell off a bit more on Monday, as I needed 21 more steps to reach 3400.  Tuesday was even worse, barely surpassing 3100 steps.  Things started to improve on Wednesday, where 12 additional steps would have gotten me to 4000.  Another dip on Thursday dropped me back down to 19 steps shy of 3400.  A big improvement on Friday pushed me all the way up to 4700 steps.  A night out with friends put me up at 4900 steps on Saturday, ending the week on an upswing.

A bit of a bounce back week, though one with a poor ending.  The week got off to a decent start on Sunday, as I needed just 11 additional steps to reach 4300.  Things picked up slightly on Monday, as I jumped up to 4600 steps thanks to lunchtime trip to the new local Sbarro.  A lunch trip to Buona on Tuesday helped push me up ever further, to 4600 steps.  Wednesday saw a big drop-off, needing a single additional step to get to 3600.  Thursday fell even more, going down to 3200 steps.  The return of crosstown baseball on Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field left me just 20 steps shy of 6300.  An upset stomach left me with only 2300 steps on Saturday, ending the week on a downturn.

A hellish week at work sends things tumbling south after two good vacation-filled weeks.  The week got off to an ok-ish start on Sunday, as I needed just 20 additional steps reach 4000.  Things picked up slightly on Monday, as I gained those 20 steps plus 72 more, falling 28 steps shy of 4100.  Things started to go bad at work on Tuesday, where an ECC call kept me 31 steps away from 3000.  A better Wednesday led to the highpoint of the week, with 4200 steps.  Another ECC call on Thursday left me 22 steps away from 2800.  An early morning full of meetings combined with the third ECC call of the week on Friday was even worse, finishing with 2500 steps.  The week wrapped up on Saturday with a disappointing 2700 steps.

The end of my week in Amsterdam led to an overall good week, though one that tailed off once I returned home.  The week got off to a slow start on Sunday, as I only left the apartment for a quick trip to the grocery store, which left me 35 steps shy of 3400.  Things picked up on Monday, my last full day in Amsterdam, as I bummed around the museum campus before dinner and a tour of the Red Light District, which pushed me up to 11,900 steps.  A trip to the airport on Tuesday got me to exactly 7000 steps.  One last day off for recovery on Wednesday saw my output drop to 3000 steps.  Giong back to work on Thursday left me 39 steps away from 3400.  Friday was even worse, as I needed an additional 5 steps just to reach 2900.  My first baseball game of the second half pushed up Saturday’s total, finishing with 6300 while watching the White Sox lose their 13th consecutive game.

Nothing like a trip to Europe to kick things into a higher gear.  The week got off to a decent-enough start on Sunday, as I ended the first half of the baseball season, and the day, 27 steps away from 5000.  An additional 40 steps on Monday would have gotten me to 3500.  A trip to the airport on Tuesday pushed me up to 5400 steps.  A long flight saw me arriving in Amsterdam on Wednesday morning, chilling the day away to a tune of 2800 steps.  A day of adventuring down towards the Reijksmuseum and dinner out on Thursday gave me my first 10,000-step day of the year, finishing with 13,000.  A trip to see windmills on Friday again pushed me over 10,000 steps.  A visit to the Heineken Experience on Saturday night ended the week on a high note, falling just 34 steps shy of 8800.

Before we begin, you may notice some changes with the graphics this week.  Fitbit, or, more accurately, their parent company Google, has done away with the web interface and left the app as the only way of accessing one’s step data.  I personally find the options through the app to be somewhat lacking, but I’m sure this move saves them a quarter or two. Since that web interface is what was keeping me in the Fitbit ecosystem and away from the Apple Watch and the native iOS options, it may be time to revisit my step-counting solution.

Things continued trending in the wrong direction this week, falling further below the 30,000-step plateau.  The week got off to a slow-ish start on Sunday, as I wrapped up the holiday weekend with 4000 steps.  Monday saw a slight improvement, coming in just 9 steps shy of 4200.  Tuesday fell back slightly, needing 36 more steps to get to 4100.   A busy day at work on Wednesday cratered, coming 35 steps away from 2200.  A decent improvement on Thursday pushed me back up to 3700 steps. Friday pushed me back up over 4000 steps.  The week ended on a high note on Saturday with 4700 steps.
