What a horrible week overall.  Only 3 days surpassed the 5000 step mark, although one of those nearly cleared 10,000.  Sunday was my birthday, so there was a lot of time sitting around with presents and cake.  Monday was a day off, so I made a rare trip to the gym.  An hour on the treadmill helped me get the high total.  The only other day of note was Thursday’s trip to the bowling alley, which pushed me over 7000 steps.

Total steps: 36,624

GlobalFit III: 4 Month Checkpoint

Week16Checkpoint16 weeks ago, we started year three of this little experiment and laid out a goal of approximately 2.25 million steps over the next year.  16 weeks, or approximately 4 months, seems like a good time to look at the progress I’ve made so far.

Right off the bat, we can see that the average steps per day is up by 44 steps.  One goal is to get this back up over the 5000 step mark, and that seems to be on target.  To achieve 2.25 million steps by the end of the year, my calculations say that I should have accomplished 692,308 steps by this point.  As of the end of last week, I am at 571,204.  That pace puts me at under 1.9 million for the year, which is quite a bit off of my mark.  To make up the difference, I would need to add approximately 11,000 additional steps per week.

My best week so far has been Week 3, which had the nice boost of having the BTN 5K walk.  My worst week was Week 6, where I barely broke 29,000 steps for the week.

GlobalFit III: Week 14

Y3Week14The week started up north as Keith Longwell’s bachelor party continued.  Most of Sunday was spent driving home, which explains the low total.  Monday was a day off from work, which makes the day’s total pretty decent.  The rest of the work week was pretty uneventful.  Saturday saw the delivery of my new bedroom set, which meant a lot of going back and forth while moving things from the old dressers to the new ones.

Total steps: 34,428

Weekly average: 4918.3

GlobalFit III: Week 13

Y3Week13Well, we had a pretty decent week going on until the weekend, and a trip up to the Wisconsin hinterlands, where things dropped off.  Nothing in particular sticks out about the work week, where every day was over the 5000 step mark and nearly above 6000 steps.  Thursday was helped out by week 2 of bowling.

Friday included a 3 hour drive north to Kewaunee, WI for Keith Longwell’s bachelor party.  The festivities on Saturday included 9 holes of golf, where I mostly sat in the cart, and then, thanks to a thunderstorm, an afternoon of sitting in the clubhouse before the golfers decided to call it a day.  That night had a trip out to some local bars, until we were asked to leave due to some drunken tomfoolery.

GlobalFit III: Week 12

Y3Week12Well, what do we have here?  A pretty decent week, for once, with 5 days over the 5000 step mark, 3 days over the 7000 step mark, and 1 day even creeping across the 10,000 step plateau.  The week began with a pretty decent total for a Sunday, with just under 4000 steps.  The work week definitely benefited from a few trips to North plaza, either for smoothies, lunch, or just for a walk.  Thursday also benefited from the kickoff of the bowling season.  The big day was Saturday, which was homecoming down at Purdue University.  I made the trip down to meet up with some friends for what turned out to be an atrocious football game, as the Boilermaker got their asses handed to them by the Northern Illinois Huskies.  I traipsed up and down campus, which made up the large total.

GlobalFit III: Week 11

Y3Week11Well, what a schizophrenic week we have here, with a pretty decent work week surrounded by weekend days where we don’t even break the 1000 step mark.  Sunday was supposed to include a trip to the local ballpark,  but a rainstorm kept me inside all day.  The work week actually turned out to be pretty decent, with every day but Friday making it over the 5000 step plateau.  Friday’s total included a trip to the mall to hit the Apple Store and pick up the new iPhone.  Saturday’s low total can be attributed to me spending most of the morning setting up the new phone.

Total steps: 29,932

Weekly average: 4276

GlobalFit III: Week 10

Y3Week10Another disappointing week, with only 3 days over the 5000 step mark.  Thursday used a trip over to North for a smoothie to just eke by 5000 steps.  Friday used an extra-long wait for a pizza to put in some extra steps along the parking lot of said pizza place.  Saturday had a trip down the ramp after another exciting White Sox loss.  Beyond that, more of the same with work followed by lying in bed and watching TV.

Total steps: 31,344
