iTunes Top 200 Artists: #81-90

Music.  It is a powerful thing that brings people together, creates memories, and evokes emotions.  It is the universal language that speaks to the soul.  It forms the soundtrack of our lives.

It has now been five years since we last counted down the Top 200 artists in my iTunes library, featuring the songs I have listened to the most since 2007.  It is time to do so again, seeing which performers still resonate and if any newer ones have joined the fray.  So, without further ado, here are my most listened to artists, based on number of plays as of January 1, 2026.

We continue today with our next batch of ten artists, covering the genres of pop, alternative rock, R&B, and metal, stretching from the 1960s through the 2000s.

#90: P.O.D.
iTunes stats: 122 plays
Previous ranking: #78

The San Diego band responsible for the entrance music for former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks added just ten new plays in the last five years.

#89: Bell Biv DeVoe
iTunes stats: 123 plays
Previous ranking: #83

A small 19% increase for the former members of New Edition cause them to drop six spots in the rankings.

#88: Ozzy Osbourne
iTunes stats: 124 plays
Previous ranking: #89

The one-time Prince of Darkness, who passed away last summer, picked up 31 new listens, for the six different tracks in my collection.

#85: UB40
iTunes stats: 126 plays
Previous ranking: #105

The British reggae band move up 20 spots on the list based on their 45 new listens, now spread across five different tracks.

The former Mouseketeer and Voice star sees a 30% play increase, enabling her to rise a single spot.

It has now been five years since we last counted down the Top 200 artists in my iTunes library, featuring the songs I have listened to the most since 2007.  It is time to do so again, seeing which performers still resonate and if any newer ones have joined the fray.  So, without further ado, here are my most listened to artists, based on number of plays as of January 1, 2026.

We wrap up the first half of the list today with our next batch of ten artists, crossing over from play totals of two digits into three and featuring the highest charting debut.

#110: Chance the Rapper
iTunes stats: 99 plays
Previous ranking: #89

The two clips from the Chicago born rapper’s intro video for the 2016 White Sox gained only six new plays over the last five years.

#109: Pink
iTunes stats: 100 plays
Previous ranking: #107

The three-time Grammy winner added 22 additional listens to the four songs that are in my collection.

#108: The Strokes
iTunes stats: 102 plays
Previous ranking: #110

The alternative band from New York rises two spots on the list thanks to 29 new listens to four songs off their debut album, not including a mash-up with Christina Aguilera.

#107: The Outfield
iTunes stats: 103 plays
Previous ranking: #85

With their only song in my collection being the walkup music for former White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham, the group from London’s East End added a mere four plays over these past five years.

Fifty Years Of Music – 2012

Fifty years ago, I made my first appeared on the Earth.  In celebration, we are going to take a look at the year-end Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for each year of my life and see what songs resonated with me at the time and if they continue to do so to this day.

We continue our look back at the music of my lifetime with 2012, the year I celebrated my 38th birthday.  A mere ten of these songs remain familiar to me today, with just two of them appearing in my collection in one way or another.

#71: Adele – Rolling in the Deep

Winner of three Grammy awards, it was ranked the 82nd best song of all time by Rolling Stone in 2021.

Peaking at #2, it was the highest charting song by a South Korean artist up to that point.

#33: Taylor Swift – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Jumping from #72 to #1 in its second week of release, it was her first chart topper on the Hot 100 and tied her with Kenny Rogers for the most Top Ten entries by a country artist with eleven.

#29: LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock – Party Rock Anthem

Featured in 21 Jump Street, which won the MTV Movie Award for Best Music.

Fifty years ago, I made my first appeared on the Earth.  In celebration, we are going to take a look at the year-end Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for each year of my life and see what songs resonated with me at the time and if they continue to do so to this day.

We continue our look back at the music of my lifetime with 2003, the year I celebrated the completion of my 28th trip around the sun.  A mere 22 songs remain familiar to me today, with just 15 of them appearing in my collection in one way or another.

Peaking at #15, it was the third single from his fourth studio album.

Fifty Years Of Music – 1999

Fifty years ago, I made my first appeared on the Earth.  In celebration, we are going to take a look at the year-end Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for each year of my life and see what songs resonated with me at the time and if they continue to do so to this day.

We continue our look back at the music of my lifetime with 1999, the year I turned 25 and Angelina was born.  At 33 songs, we see a slight rebound in the Hot 100 that remain familiar to me today for the first time, with 17 of them appearing in my collection in one way or another.

#94: Goo Goo Dolls – Iris
iTunes stats: 19 plays

Featured on the soundtrack to City of Angels, the track debuted, and peaked, at #9 in December of 1998 following the change to allow songs with no commercial single release to chart.

#89: Jay-Z – Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)
iTunes stats: 35 plays

Featuring samples and the chorus from the Annie song, it reached #15.

#78: Len – Steal My Sunshine

The group’s only charting single in the US, it went to #9

The Grammy winner for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2000, it topped out at #4 on the Hot Country Singles chart and #23 on the Hot 100.

Topping out at #17, the song garnered Smith a VMA for Best Male Video.

It’s been 4 years since we last counted down the Top 200 artists in my iTunes library.  Since my iTunes stats are still intact, across multiple PCs, iPods, iPads, and iPhones, I figured it was time to take another look at the artists that have entertained me the most based on number of plays from late 2007 through January 1, 2021.

We continue today with the next batch of 10 artists, breaking past the 100 play plateau with the 2 remaining tied for 89th place, the single artist at 88, 2 tied for 86th, and the single artists at 85th through 81st.

Somehow the two clips from his intro video for the 2016 White Sox jumped 50 spots due to a 182% increase in plays over the last 4 years.

Sweden’s second best selling musical act after Abba, the pop duo nearly doubled their listens while moving up 6 spots on the chart.

A big 18 spot drop for the band most well known for a Fruitopia commercial back in the day, thanks to a mere 32 new plays.

43 new listens for the Minneapolis-based band pushes them up 2 spots in the rankings.
