GF4 – Week 19

Y4Week19A disturbing trend is afoot, as we suffer from our third straight subpar week.  As the temperature outside has plummeted, so has my activity.  The week got off to a pretty good start, but things fell apart on Thursday when I couldn’t even make it to 4000 steps.  Friday bounced back, thanks to a walk over to Willow, but then the weekend fell off a cliff again.

GF4 – Week 18

Y4Week18Well, this was a disappointing week, with my lowest total since the end of January, when the polar vortex kept me with 3 days under 2000 steps.  This week suffered from busy days that kept me away from my afternoon trip to North plaza for coffee.  Thursday, the only day I did get to go on a coffee trip, was the one day to cross the 5000 step plateau.  Hopefully things pick up this week.

Daily average: 4008.6

GF4 – Week 17

Y4Week17A disappointing week, brought down by a wasted weekend.  The best day of the week was Monday, as I celebrated the 40th anniversary of my birth.  The rest of the week was nothing to write home about, with diminishing returns through Halloween on Friday.  The weekend was a lost cause that killed the whole week, which I spent mostly emptying out the DVR.

GF4 – Week 16

Y4Week16Another successful week, with 4 days over 5500 steps and only one day, Saturday, below 5000 steps.  Thursday was the day of days, as I finished at an even 5000 steps.  Nothing too exciting during the work week, and Friday and Sunday benefited from walks around the neighborhood.  Saturday was helped along by a trip to the grocery store.

GF4 – First Quarter Checkpoint

Y4Q1Well, we’ve reached the end of the first quarter here in our fourth year of using the GlobalFit tracker, so it is time to check in on my progress towards my goal of 2,002,000 steps, or an average of 5500 per day.  One quarter of that total would be 500,500.  So how did I do?

Well, as of my last check-in at work on Thursday, I was at 555,072 steps for the year, good enough for 28% of my goal for the year.  Without taking the last 2 days into account, I’ve got a buffer of over 54,500 steps to help me over the winter, where I am likely to slow down somewhat, if past experience is any indicator.

This is certainly a good start.  We’ll check back in January for a mid-year checkpoint, where I should have crossed the 1 million step plateau.

GF4 – Week 13

Y4Week13Well, that was a pretty disappointing week, with my lowest step total since April.  Things got off to a decent start, but went south on Wednesday and never really recovered.  My first post-baseball season weekend also proved to be pretty disappointing, but at least I managed to break 1000 steps each day.

GF4 – Week 12

Y4Week12My best week of the year so far, and my highest weekly total since the San Diego trip in April, thanks mainly to the Sprint and Stride event on Tuesday, which turned out to be my 4th highest single day total since starting this whole experiment.  The work week saw every day above 6000 except for Friday, which still came in over 5500.  Saturday nearly hit 10,000 steps thanks to a walk around the neighborhood and a trip to Grandstand before Paul Konerko night at US Cellular Field.  Sunday was the one low point of the week, as the baseball season came to an end.
