FB4: Week 16

Another good week, despite ending on a down note with 2 sub-par days.  Things got off to a good start on Sunday, where a crosstown tilt between the Cubs and White Sox at Wrigley Field ended up with nearly 7500 steps.  Monday saw a bit of an improvement, coming in just over 7900 steps.  Tuesday went back down a bit, with only 7200 steps.  Wednesday managed to crack the 9000 step mark.  Thursday was the big day of the week, coming in at close to 13,500 steps.  Things fell off on Friday, with only 21 steps over 5000.  Despite a trip to Guaranteed Rate Field on Saturday, the day ended with just over 5200 steps.

Top 200 Albums – #31 – 40

itunes_imageNearly 4 years ago, we first counted down the Top 200 albums in my iTunes library. We continue with the next batch of 10 albums ranked between #31 and 40, including 3 studio recordings, 3 greatest hits packages, and 1 live performance.

FB4: Week 15

A second consecutive week under goal, despite a 10,000 step day.  Things got off to a slow start on Sunday, with just over 4100 steps.  Monday was a nice bounce back, coming in 29 steps shy of 7200 steps.  Tuesday was the big day of the week, as a trip to Guaranteed Rate Field to see the White Sox battle the Pirates ended 8 steps short of 10,200.  Wednesday was another down day, with just over 5100 steps.  Thursday was a nice bounce back, with over 8200 steps.  Friday was back down, coming in with over 6100 steps.  Saturday jumped back up to 7800 steps, thanks to a trip to Wrigley Field for some exciting crosstown action.

On tap for midseason, along side returning favorites ElementaryInstinct, Man With A Plan, and Life, are The Code, which taps the underrepresented area of legal law, The Red Line, about 3 Chicago families dealing with loss, and Fam, a comedy about a woman whose perfect life is thrown asunder when her sister moves in.

Gone and never to be seen again are 9JKLKevin Can WaitLiving BiblicallyMe, Myself, & IScorpionSuperior DonutsWisdom Of The Crowd, and Zoo.

ABC Upfronts

ABC is shaking up their lineup this fall, with changes on every night save Monday and Thursday.  The week gets off to a familiar start with Dancing With The Stars, followed by The Good Doctor.  Roseanne returns for another season to kick off Tuesday nights, followed by The Kids Are Alright, about a traditional Irish-Catholic family navigating the turbulent 70s, then black-ish and Splitting Up Together staying put.  The night ends with The Rookie, bringing Nathan Fillion back to the network in a familiar setting.

Wednesday starts the same, with The GoldbergsAmerican Housewife, and Modern Family starting the night, followed by Single Parents, a comedy about, well, single parents starring Taran Killam and Leighton Meester.  The night is capped off by A Million Little Things, about a group of Boston friends who re-examine their lives when one of them dies.  Thursdays stay exactly the same, with the three Shondaland shows remaining in place.  A revamped Friday kicks off with the re-located Fresh Off The Boat and Speechless, followed by Child Support and 20/20.  Sunday goes all reality, with a junior edition of DWTS sandwiched between America’s Funniest Home Videos and Shark Tank.  The night ends with The Alec Baldwin Show, the first prime time talk show since the unfortunate attempt to keep Jay Leno happy while Conan O’Brien hosted The Tonight Show.

Agents of SHIELD will return in summer of 2019, and American Idol and For The People will return at some point.  Also on the bench for mid-season are The Fix, a legal drama from Marcia Clark starring Robin Tunney, Grand Hotel, from executive producer Eva Longoria, and Whiskey Cavalier, about a partnership of FBI and CIA agents played by Scott Foley and Lauren Cohan.  The one comedy is Schooled, a spin-off of The Goldbergs.

FOX Upfronts

For the second straight year, FOX has shifted their game plan, abandoning their single camera comedies and, instead, moving closer ideologically with its sister news network.  The end result is a fall schedule with only one show that interests me, and even that 9 unwatched episodes from this season still sitting on my DVR.

Monday has two returning shows, The Resident and 9-1-1, which didn’t pull me in last year.  The Gifted, based on Marvel’s X-Men characters, moves to Tuesdays, followed by a revamped Lethal Weapon.  Wednesday’s lineup remains consistent, with Empire followed by Star.

Thursdays get turned over to the NFL, as the much-reviled game moves over from CBS.  Friday has the revival of Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing and The Cool Kids, about a group of friends in a retirement community, followed by Hell’s Kitchen.  Sunday’s animated block remains mostly the same, with a new comedy, REL, closing off the night.

The second season of The Orville will return to Thursday after the NFL season.  Gotham will also appear at some point for its final season.  Also on tap for mid-season are The Passage, a post-apocalyptic thriller starring Mark-Paul Gosselar, Proven Innocent, a legal drama from Danny Strong, and the return of Cosmos.

Gone and mostly forgotten are Brooklyn Nine-Nine (which was saved by NBC), The ExorcistGhostedKicking & ScreamingThe Last Man On EarthLA To VegasLuciferThe MickNew Girl, Superhuman, Wayward Pines, and The X-Files.

NBC Upfronts

NBC announced their new fall schedule yesterday and very few changes are afoot, with only 3 new shows making the cut. The week gets off to a familiar start with The Voice returning for another round on Mondays, followed by Manifest, a new drama about a missing plane that returns 5 years in the future. Tuesday leads off with more of The Voice, followed by This Is Us and New Amsterdam, a new medical drama that stars some old favorites.

Wednesday is turned over to Dick Wolf, with his 3 Chicago series running back to back to back.  Comedy still reigns supreme on Thursday, with Superstore, The Good Place, and Will & Grace joined by I Feel Bad, from executive producer Amy Poehler.  Law & Order: SVU moves to Thursday for its 20th season.  Blindspot remains on Fridays, where it will continue to lead off the night.

The Blacklist returns at mid-season, debuting on Fridays after Blindspot.  Also returning are A.P. Bio, Good Girls, and, after a pick-up from Fox, Brooklyn Nine-Nine.  Four new shows also wait for spots on the air, including Abby’s, starring Natalie Morales as a woman who runs a bar in her backyard, The Enemy Within, a spy thriller starring Jennifer Carpenter, The Inbetween, which sounds fairly ludicrous, and The Village, about the inhabitants of a Brooklyn building.  Similar to last year, the fate of Timeless is still up in the air.

Cancelled shows include The Brave, The Carmichael Show, and Great News.

FB4: Week 14

Thanks, in part, to 2 separate foot injuries, I just missed my weekly target, falling 317 steps short.  Things got off to a slow start on Sunday, just barely surpassing 3000 steps.  Monday had a nice bounce back, coming in at over 7300 steps.  Tuesday was the high point of the week, thanks to a post-work trip to Wrigley Field for my first Cub game of the season, which pushed my just past 10,000 steps.  Wednesday fell back a bit, falling short of my daily goal by just over 1500 steps.  Thursday combined a day of work with another baseball game, this time on the south side, putting me back near 10,000 steps.  Friday combined work with a trip to Lincoln-Way Central to hear Danny play his horn during the school musical for another 8000 steps.  Saturday fell well short, despite a communion party and another baseball game thanks in part to a blister on one foot and a smashed pinkie toe on the other.
