FB2: Week 30

FB2_Week30A nice bounce back week, where I posted my best total since the middle of June.  Things got off to a decent start on Sunday, where exciting White Sox baseball led to my passing my daily goal by a mighty 79 steps.  Things picked up on Monday and Tuesday, as my totals increased each day.  Wednesday was the big day of the week, as I surpassed 10,000 steps for the first time since Lollapalooza.  Thursday came close to duplicating the feat, thanks to an after-work trip to Oakbrook to get my phone checked at the Apple Store.  Friday was also an impressive day, thanks to a trip downtown for a division outing.  Saturday fell below my goal, despite going to US Cellular Field for White Sox/Mariner action.

They’re Calling It What?

guaranteed_rateAfter being known as US Cellular Field for the past 13 years, the White Sox announced earlier today that, beginning on November 1, their home stadium will now be known as Guaranteed Rate Field.  The team and the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority signed a 13 year agreement with the national mortgage broker based in Chicago.  A name change had been thought to be in the works for the past 4 years, since US Cellular exited the Chicago market.

The new name will take some getting used to, as it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.  That said, the name of the stadium isn’t as important as the action taking place inside it, and a winning team, should one ever deem to locate itself on the south side again, will wipe away any concerns over the name.

Going into tonight’s action, the White Sox were 220-186 in games I’ve attended at US Cellular Field.  There will be a few more opportunities to add to that record over the final month of the 2016 season, before we turn the page and start anew at Guaranteed Rate Field.

FB2_Week28A horrible week, as I failed to reach my goal for only the second time this year.  Things got off to a slow start on Sunday despite a trip down to US Cellular Field for exciting (or not, as it turned out) White Sox baseball.  Things bounced back a bit on Monday, as I crossed the 6000 step barrier thanks in part to a lunch trip to North Plaza.  Tuesday was the low point of the week, as I barely managed to cross 4000 steps.  Wednesday was another down day, as I again failed to break 5000 steps.  Thursday was my second day to pass 6000 steps, though just barely.  Needing to average over 7000 steps on Friday and Saturday to salvage the week, I couldn’t even break 5000 steps either day.

FB2_Week26Another week got off to a slow start, despite a trip down to US Cellular Field for exciting White Sox baseball.  Monday was another disappointment, not ever cracking 5000 steps.  Tuesday saw a big increase, nearly totaling 9000 steps, thanks to game 2 of the Crosstown Cup.  Wednesday was another good day, due to a post-work trip to the Glen with Hayley to have dinner and see Star Trek Beyond.  Thursday and Friday were down days once again, with the week saved by Saturday’s total of over 13,000 steps thanks to a trip in to the city for Lollapalooza with Hayley and Val.

FB2_Week25The week got off to a slow start, with Sunday finishing well below 5000 steps.  The work week managed to hover just above my daily goal of 6000 steps until Friday, when a post-work trip down to US Cellular Field led to my best day of the week with nearly 10,000 steps.  Despite another game on Saturday, it was another disappointing day, again ending under 5000 steps.

FB2_Week24Another good week, as my consecutive days above goal streak reached 36 before coming to an end on Saturday.  Things got off to a good start on Sunday, coming close to 10,000 steps thanks to a morning walk followed by a trip to US Cellular Field for a disappointing White Sox/Braves tilt.  The work week started off well, nearly hitting 9000 steps on Monday.  Tuesday was the highpoint of the week, crossing 11,000 steps thanks to an after-work trip in to the city for dinner with Val and Hayley.  The rest of the week was pretty standard, until Saturday, where a morning trip for mini-golf with Danny and Michael was the extent of the day’s activity.

FB2_Week22Despite putting up my lowest weekly total in 10 weeks, I did manage to keep my streak of days above goal alive for the week, reaching 23 days.  Things got off to a decent start on Sunday, with Michael and I heading down to US Cellular Field to watch the White Sox successfully battle the Blue Jays.  The work week got off to a slow start, with Monday and Tuesday just managing to squeak past 6000 steps due to the lack of an afternoon coffee run.  Things improved on Wednesday and Thursday, as I was able to leave work earlier and managed to throw in an after-work walk around the neighborhood.  Friday was another squeaker, despite a trip down to Abt after work to get Hayley set up with a US-based cellphone.  Saturday was a big day, as Hayley and I headed down to Naperville for Ribfest, featuring a performance from Sheryl Crow, leading to my only 10,000 step day of the week.

FB2_Week20A successful week, with every day topping the 6000 step mark.  Things got off to a good start on Sunday thanks to a trip down to US Cellular Field with Angelina to watch the White Sox embarrass themselves.  Monday got the work week off to a good start, finishing with nearly 9000 steps.  Tuesday and Wednesday managed to eke past my daily step goal, before Thursday obliterated it, thanks to a training class in North in the morning, coffee in the PM, and then a walk to Walgreens for a Father’s Day card after work.  Friday was another successful day at work.  Saturday got off to a tremendous start, with my step goal accomplished by 9 AM, before settling in for a relaxing afternoon and evening.

FB2_Week19Another great week thanks to the end of the trip to Universal.  Things got off to a great start on Sunday, which was split between Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.  Monday was an early day due to the effects of Tropical Storm Colin, which blew in around the middle of the day.  Tuesday featured one last trip to the park, where we ended the trip with one last go on the Simpson’s ride before checking out and heading to the airport.  Wednesday was back to normal, as I returned to work, though without the afternoon coffee run.  Thursday didn’t even break 5000 steps, as I was stuck at work until nearly 6:00.  Friday was back up above 6000 steps, if just barely.  Saturday also managed to break the 6000 step mark, thanks to a trip down to US Cellular Field with Michael.

FB2_Week17The week got off to a slow start on Sunday despite a trip down to US Cellular Field to watch the White Sox eke out a victory against the Royals.  Monday saw a bit of a recovery, but was a standard work day.  Tuesday was the star of the week, thanks to an after-work trip down to see the White Sox lose to the Indians that finished with nearly 13,000 steps.  Wednesday and Thursday were back to the normal work day activities, with Thursday getting a small boost thanks to Danny’s graduation..  Friday fell a bit below my goal thanks to an early exit from work for the long weekend.  Saturday saw a nice bounce back thanks to a long walk around the neighborhood.
