In 2008, Liam Neeson had a hit with Taken, a movie about a retired CIA agent who travels across Europe to rescue his kidnapped daughter. 4 years later, the same plot made its way to television in ABC’s Missing, with Ashley Judd playing the Neeson role, scouring Europe for her missing son. Unfortunately, the new version has not matched the original’s success and wrapped up its only season last night.
It’s hard for me to put my finger on exactly what the problem was with Missing. It was good, but never really good, if you get my meaning. There was always that feeling that something was (if you’ll pardon the pun) missing, which would have pushed this over the top to become one of the better shows on television.
My guess is Judd, who hasn’t been getting as much notice on the big screen lately, will follow this up with another television project. Hopefully it gets more of a shot than Missing did.
