Struggling with his weight all of his life, Emmett Truesdale joins a clinical trial for a new drug called Obexity which the company claims will help him lose weight with no lifestyle changes.  While the weight quickly starts to fall off, Emmett finds that he is suffering from blackouts, which mysteriously coincide with the suspicious disappearances/deaths of people who have slighted him in the past.  He eventually learns that the drug is turning him into a cannibal but doesn’t want to give up the weight loss.  When he learns who is behind the new drug, however, he goes over the edge.

Nothing Tasts as Good is my first experience with the work of Luke Dumas.  This story hits a little close to home, as I have been on a weight loss journey powered by a wonder drug for the last year.  Thankfully, the horror elements were not part of my side effects, so my experience has been much better than Emmett’s.  Dumas tells an interesting tale here and I look forward to reading more from him in the future.
