Fitbit III: Week 5

Another good week, as I broke 50,000 steps for the 5th consecutive week, my longest stretch since last summer, when I put together a 14 week stretch between mid April and mid July.  I also continued my streak of above-goal days to a record 41 straight, surpassing the 36 day streak last summer.  Things started on a good note on Sunday, where I combined trips to the grocery store, Danny’s band concert, and dinner out to finish near 7000 steps.  Monday was a day off work and managed to be the high point of the week, coming in over 10,000 steps for the fourth time this month.  Tuesday was back to work, and a lot of time was spent running around the building dealing with drama, followed by an after work trip to the Glen.  Wednesday was the low point of the week, finishing a mere 36 steps above goal despite walking from Willow back to South after a morning meeting.  Things bounced back on Thursday, as I approached 8000 steps thanks in part to an old-timey afternoon coffee run with Val.  Friday and Saturday both took some extra effort to traipse around the upper level of the house to reach and surpass my daily goal.

Fitbit Year 2

A year ago, I set a goal of 2,184,000 steps, an average of 6000 steps per day.  Despite losing my original Fitbit during Week 10, which cost me some steps, I managed to easily surpass my goal, coming in with 2,582,752 total steps.  My average step total per week was 49,668.31, which comes out to about 7095.473 per day. The median weekly total was 49,887. My best week was Week 18, which was the start of my trip to Florida for Danny’s graduation celebration.  My worst week was Week 6, when the flu kept me bedridden for 2 days.

For the upcoming year, I plan to up the ante again. I am upping my goal for steps per day from 6000 to 6500, which would bring me to a yearly total of 2,366,000 steps. Seeing as I surpassed that total this year, with over 216,000 steps to spare, I expect I will have no issue with this.

FB2: Week 48

A disappointing week, due to holidays and illness, that caused me to fall shy of my weekly target.  Things got off to a slow start on Sunday, due to it being Christmas.  Unseasonably warm weather on Monday led to a great day, thanks to a nice elongated walk around the neighborhood.  Tuesday managed to just barely squeak past the 6000 step barrier.  Wednesday and Thursday were about even, with only 121 steps off between them.  Friday fell below the mark, thanks to spending the day with Danny and Michael.  Saturday fell well below, with Danny and Michael having spent the night and a lack of sleep due to illness taking a toll.

2017 Calendar

2017coverNow that Christmas has come and gone, we can unveil the cover to this year’s calendar gift, given annually to my mom and sister, made up of pictures I have taken throughout the year. Once again. this year’s calendar was produced by the good folks at Shutterfly. As in year’s past, we will unveil each month’s photo on the first day of the month throughout 2017.

This year’s cover features the entire family and the Scooby gang (the actual Scooby gang, not the Buffy Scooby gang) from our trip to Universal Studios last June to celebrate Danny’s graduation.

FB2_Week24Another good week, as my consecutive days above goal streak reached 36 before coming to an end on Saturday.  Things got off to a good start on Sunday, coming close to 10,000 steps thanks to a morning walk followed by a trip to US Cellular Field for a disappointing White Sox/Braves tilt.  The work week started off well, nearly hitting 9000 steps on Monday.  Tuesday was the highpoint of the week, crossing 11,000 steps thanks to an after-work trip in to the city for dinner with Val and Hayley.  The rest of the week was pretty standard, until Saturday, where a morning trip for mini-golf with Danny and Michael was the extent of the day’s activity.
