Fitbit XI – Week 17

A fully charged battery and two big days, including my first day over goal in the state of Illinois in nearly a year, pushed me back over 30,000 steps for the week.  The week got off to an excellent start on Sunday thanks to a Mother’s Day trip to Brookfield Zoo, needing 39 additional steps to reach 7700 and surpassing my daily goal for the first time in six weeks.  Monday saw an expected decline, coming 2 steps shy of 3900.  Tuesday saw a slight improvement, falling just 20 steps short of 4200.  Another small improvement on Wednesday left me 23 steps away from 4300.  The worst day of the week came on Thursday, as I managed only 2800 steps.  Friday bounced back up, ending up 38 steps away from 4200.  An afternoon at Wrigley Field for the latest installment of the Crosstown Classic left me just 3 steps shy of 7300.

2022 Calendar

After a year of old pictures thanks to the corona virus murdering 2020, we are back in the game with next year’s calendar and, now that Christmas has come and gone, we can unveil the cover to this year’s calendar gift, given annually to my mom and sister, and made up of pictures I have taken throughout the year.  Lack of travel made getting pictures of Angelina difficult, but between last Christmas and this Thanksgiving, we were able to make it work.   As in year’s past. the calendar was produced by the good folks at Shutterfly and we will unveil each month’s photo(s) on the first day of the month throughout 2022.

This year’s cover features Angelina, Danny, and Michael masked up as we visited the primates from South America at Brookfield Zoo.

Fitbit VII – Week 17

Things continue to trend in the right direction, as I managed to post my first 10,000 step day and my first 40,000 step week since March.  The week got off to a decent enough start on Sunday, as the final day of my 7 games in 6 days week at Guaranteed Rate Field left me 6 steps over 6000.  Monday fell off a bit, coming in 8 steps shy of 4800.  Tuesday was the low point of the week, finishing with a mere 3100 steps.  A trip to Wrigley Field after work on Wednesday put me over goal, finishing with 8300 steps.  Thursday fell back down again, with only 4200 steps.  Friday saw an increase up to 5500 steps.  Saturday’s trip to Brookfield Zoo put me 20 steps shy of 10,900.

Fitbit 6: Week 29

Week 22 of working from home due to the corona virus saw my streak of days above goal come to an end at 14 and my streak of surpassing my weekly goal stop at 2.  Things got off to a poor start on Sunday, where I managed only 4800 steps.  Monday bounced back above goal, coming in just over 7500 steps as I dealt with the damage caused by the derecho that blew through town.  Tuesday fell back down again, finishing 8 steps shy of 5600.  Wednesday was another disappointment, coming in just 5 steps higher than Sunday’s total.  Thursday had an early morning meeting that I could take on my phone, leading to a walk that staked me out to a 9100 step day.  Friday, I took my first day off of the year and ended up at Brookfield Zoo with Danny, which led to 12,300 steps, my highest total since last October’s trip to Boston to celebrate birthdays with Angelina.  A strong Saturday could have saved the week, but I finished the day with 6200 steps, leaving me about 2000 steps shy of my weekly goal.

Fitbit III: Week 16

After 2 down weeks, I managed to make it back over 50,000 steps for the week and finished above goal every day for the first time since early April.  Things got off to good start on Sunday, thanks to a Mother’s Day trip to Brookfield Zoo and, for the first time in years, decent weather.  The nice weather continued Monday and Tuesday, which enabled me to put in some extra time outside to far surpass the daily goal.  Wednesday managed to just barely surpass 6500 steps, while Thursday was able to use a trip to Michael’s band concert to cross the 7000 step barrier.  Friday was looking rough, until an after work trip to purchase a new mattress pushed me over the top.  Saturday was another big day, thanks to a pointless trip to Wrigley Field, where I stood in the rain for an hour waiting for the gates to open in order to get a bobblehead, only to have the game called literally 1 minute before the gates opened.
