30 Day Picture Challenge Day 31 – A Picture Of Yourself

And now our last 30 day challenge comes to an end, with day 31 of a challenge that started on May 8 of last year.  So, without further ado….

We started off a year and a half ago with a picture of me in Switzerland from 2005.  Why not continue the theme and end with a picture of me in Belfast from September?  Here I am at The Crown, one of the more famous pubs in Belfast, enjoying a hot whiskey in one of their closed off booths.

30 Day Picture Challenge Day 29 – A Picture That Can Always Make You Smile

Prior to his hip injury, Bo Jackson was possibly the greatest athlete ever to take part in American professional sports.  But even he could not compare to his digital counterpart in Tecmo Bowl for the Nintendo Entertainment System.  In fact, I would be willing to say that the digital Bo Jackson was, and is to this day, the most powerful video game character of all time.  Eat it, Mario.

Tecmo Bowl was released for the NES in 1989, and featured 12 teams, most of whom had two running plays and two passing plays.  The Los Angeles team split their running plays between Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen, mostly because 2 plays for Bo Jackson would have been unfair.  Jackson was by far the best player in the game and, over 20 years and 5 generations of game systems, he is better than any player in Madden or any other football game.

I spent many an hour playing Tecmo Bowl back in the day and Saturday’s broadcast of Bo Jackson’s 30 for 30 episode, You Don’t Know Bo, brought back memories of him running rough shod over the rest of the digital NFL.

30 Day Picture Challenge Day 28 – A Picture Of Something You’re Afraid Of

It took me a long time to come up with something that I was afraid of, but, unfortunately, Tuesday night’s election brought things into focus.  Here’s a picture of two tweets that went out after President Obama’s re-election.  The fact that such bigotry and hatred still exist, and among what appear to be people so young, is both sad and frightening.

These people have the right to vote.  They will raise children.  And the cycle will continue on and on.  That is what I’m afraid of.

30 Day Picture Challenge Day 24 – A Picture Of Something You Wish You Could Change

Don’t get me wrong, I know that I’m fat.  But it still surprises me everytime I see a picture of myself, like this one from a couple weeks back with my nephew, of how big I actually am, and that is something I desperately wish I could change.  I know I could be doing more to change that, but I have stepped up that effort over the past year and have seen very little in the way of results.

30 Day Picture Challenge Day 23 – A Picture Of Your Favorite Book

A picture of my favorite book?  That means I would have to decide on what my favorite book was.  For a while, it was The Stand, by Stephen King.  Then, it might have been The Black Dahlia, by James Ellroy.  More recent favorites have included Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games, 11/22/63 by Stephen King, Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.  At the end of the day, I guess it doesn’t matter which is my favorite, since they are all represented in the photo.  Oh, and in case you couldn’t tell, I am in desperate need of a new bookshelf.  If only I had room for one.
