2014: The Year In Movies Part 2

Movie_Reel_22134 different people starred in the movies I saw last year (starring in being the first two named stars, a tradition dating back to the old Chicago Tribune TV guide), and a whopping 16 of them were in more than 1. Those 16 thespians are:

Name Films
Emily Blunt 3
Scarlett Johansson 3
Liam Neeson 3
Shailene Woodley 3
Kristen Bell 2
Lake Bell 2
Sandra Bullock 2
Bradley Cooper 2
Rob Corddry 2
Melissa McCarthy 2
Julianne Moore 2
Elizabeth Olsen 2
Chris Pratt 2
Jason Segel 2
Amanda Seyfried 2
Bruce Willis 2

Now let’s take a look at the remaining movies that I saw in 2014, following up on Tuesday’s post.

Her (2013)
Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with an operating system, and lives in a world where that isn’t considered odd.

Oculus (2014)
Karen Gillan stars in this horror tale about a mirror that makes its owners kill themselves and their loved ones.

Under The Skin (2013)
I’m sure some film buff will tell you that there was something worthwhile here, besides Scarlett Johansson’s first nude scenes, but I certainly didn’t get it.

Delivery Man (2013)
What would happen if a sperm bank oversold one man’s donations, leaving him the biological father of over 500 children?

X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014)
This adaptation of Chris Claremont’s famous storyline mixes the casts of the old films and the new ones to great effect.

Liars All (2013)
A mess that wasn’t worth the time I spent watching it.

Very Good Girls (2014)
Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen spend their last summer before college falling for the same guy.

A.C.O.D. (2013)
An emotionally scarred man tries poorly to deal with his divorced parents.

Sex Tape (2014)
Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel’s attempt to spice up their love life goes awry thanks to the cloud.

The Spectacular Now (2013)
A wild, popular teen falls for the type of girl he shouldn’t, and starts to clean up his act.

Ass Backwards (2013)
This dumbed-down Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion ripoff might have been the worst movie I saw this year.

Dark Skies (2013)
This Paranormal Activity with aliens flick was more entertaining than it had a right to be.

Non-Stop (2014)
A down on his luck Air Marshall is framed for an attempted hijacking, which he is attempting to stop.

Divergent (2014)
A dystopian future where having independent thought is considered dangerous.

Don’t Blink (2014)
A horrible, horrible film that should never have been made.

Moms’ Night Out (2014)
A group of Christian moms try to have a night off to relax, but their bumbling husbands won’t let them.

Ride Along (2014)
Part of Kevin Hart’s huge breakout year.

Among Friends (2013)
A psycho turns on her “friends” to show them how horrible they truly are to each other.

Psycho II (1983)
20 years after the original, Norman Bates returns home.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
If you were wondering if the world needed a 2 hour and 45 minute Transformers film, the answer is no.

Now You See Me (2013)
A group of magicians pull off a number of heists while avoiding the FBI.

Short Term 12 (2013)
Brie Larson works with troubled kids while trying to work through her own issues.

L!fe Happens (2012)
A party girl is forced to grow up when she has a baby.

The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013)
This could have been an unbelievable movie if it cut an hour from its run time.

Identity Thief (2013)
That one movie where Melissa McCarthy plays the uncouth fat slob.

Edge Of Tomorrow (2014)
A successful cross between Groundhog Day and Starship Troopers.

Liberal Arts (2012)
Josh Radnor returns to his college campus and falls for a precocoius co-ed.

The Heat (2013)
That other movie where Melissa McCarthy plays the uncouth fat slob.
