Adam Dunn put his name in the record book last night, becoming only the 6th player in baseball history to strikeout 2000 times in his career. At his current rate, Dunn should surpass Reggie Jackson as the all-time leader in less than 3 seasons.
Dunn also has a chance to break the single season record for strikeouts. His season thus far is already the 12th highest total in history. He needs 32 strikeouts to tie Mark Reynolds total from 2009, and has 28 remaining games in which to get them. At his current rate of nearly 1.5 strikeouts per game, he should have no issues if he stays healthy and the White Sox remain in contention.
