Fitbit III: Week 40

An overall decent week, with each day finishing over my 6500 step goal.  Things got off to a decent start on Sunday thanks to a birthday celebration with the family.  Monday jumped up over 8000 steps thanks to upgrade related trips around the building at work.  Tuesday was back down around 7000 steps, with Wednesday and Thursday both surpassing that plateau.  Friday was the big day of the week, coming in over 8500 steps thanks to an after work trip to Rosemont with Jeff, Hayley, and Val.  Saturday used a trip down to The Second City to come in over 7500 steps.

Fitbit III: Week 39

What can you say about a so-so week that was impressive in no way whatsoever?  The week got off to a slow start on Sunday, where I failed to surpass 4000 steps.  Things got better on Monday, falling just shy of 7000 steps.  Tuesday suffered from a small drop-off but was still above goal.  Wednesday saw another small decrease, falling closer to my daily goal.  Things picked up on Thursday thanks to a post-work dinner to celebrate my birthday.  Friday was the best day of the week, approaching 9000 steps, thanks to another post-work dinner to celebrate my birthday.  Saturday was back down near 7000 steps thanks to a trip to see Trevor Noah with Val.

Fitbit III: Week 36

Another good week, as I ran my streak of days over goal to 22.  Things got off to a good start thanks to a Sunday trip to Rosemont for lunch and a movie with Hayley, which put me over 7000 steps.  Monday combined work and a post-work walk to surpass 9000 steps.  Tuesday used the same formula, plus a trip to North for lunch, to just sneak past 10,000 steps, my lowest total ever for a 10,000 step day.  Wednesday was back down under 9000 steps.  Thursday combined work with a trip to the city for dinner with Val to come in close to 7800 steps.  Friday used another day of work plus a walk to come back in over 8600 steps.  Saturday used a morning walk to come in at close to 7300 steps.

Fitbit III: Week 34

A decent week with one tremendous day that made the overall total look great.  The week got off to a pretty good start on Sunday, with over 7300 steps to my credit.  Monday just squeaked past 6500 steps, as the drama from the week before reignited with everyone back at work.  Tuesday combined the Sprint & Stride, helping Val buy and set up a TV in her new apartment, and Season Ticket Holder Family Day at Wrigley Field for my 3rd 20,000 step day of the year and 6th overall.  Wednesday had a tremendous drop off, finishing a mere 28 steps above my daily goal.  Thursday improved a bit to back over 8000 steps.  Friday was back down around 6600 steps.  Saturday used a night trip to Guaranteed Rate Field to wrap up the week with nearly 6800 steps.

Fitbit III: Week 33

A tough week, both in the step game and emotionally.  Things got off to a slow start on Sunday, with under 5000 steps, despite a trip to Guaranteed Rate Field.  Monday bounced back a bit, finishing a whole 30 steps above goal, despite learning some people I loved were in a bad spot.  Tuesday was another down day, in which I spent hours during the day with Val trying to figure out her life then spending more hours at night with Hayley trying to do the same.  Wednesday bounced back again, this time 32 steps above goal, with another afternoon spent trying to help Val.  Thursday almost hit 7000 steps, for reasons that are now unknown to me.  Friday was back down again, finishing under 4800 steps.  Saturday used a good neighborhood walk to make it the week’s most successful day, finishing just over 8500 steps.

2 Sprint 2 Stride

For the fourth year in a row, I’ve registered for the Sprint & Stride 5K race held on the campus of the old workplace next month.  After not finishing last year due to the shenanigans of my walking partners, I’ll be trying to break my time from 2 years ago of 57:32 at a minimum, if not my “personal record” of 54:10, from the first BTN 5K I did back in 2012.  Standing in my way will likely be the same issues as years past, walking with friends and narrow terrain that makes it hard to pass slower walkers.  Hopefully I can figure out how to get my time to register this year, something I’ve failed to do in the past.

Either way, it should be a fun event and one that benefits a good cause.  Not to mention getting an afternoon away from my desk and, potentially, spending some time with Hayley and Val.

Fitbit III: Week 21

An up and down week, with 2 below goal days wiped out thanks to one tremendous day.  The week got off to a slow start on Sunday, where, for the third week in a row, I failed to reach my daily goal to start the week off.  Monday and Tuesday did little to make up the difference, as both days just eked by the 6500 step total.  Wednesday turned things around, as a day of work followed up by a 2 hour walk to Starbucks and back gave me my 6th highest total ever, with 18,290 steps.  Thursday continued the good times with just over 8000 steps, thanks to a post-work trip to the Glen for dinner with Val.  Friday was the second below-goal day of the week.  Saturday just surpassed the 6500 step goal thanks to a trip to Guaranteed Rate Field to see Mark Buehrle’s jersey retirement.

Fitbit III: Week 15

A slight bounce back, as I managed to get back over my weekly goal, though I still fell below 50,000 steps for the second consecutive week.  Things got off to a decent start on Sunday, as I just managed to sneak past 6500 steps as midnight struck thanks to an extra inning tilt at Wrigley Field between the Cubs and the Yankees.  Monday was another sneaker, due to me working from home, but an afternoon walk combined with the early morning steps coming home from the game helped push me over.  Tuesday I was back in the office, and numerous smoke breaks and a trip to North with Val put me well over the top.  Wednesday was another day at home, but rain kept me in the house, leading to a down day, despite a trip to out at night for Angelina’s scholarship night.  Thursday was back to work again, where I was able to rebound thanks to a post-work trip to the mall to spend a copious amount of money on a new car.  Friday again managed to just squeak by my daily step goal, thanks to time spent on the bed watching TV after work.  Saturday combined some chores around the house with a Sox game to give me my highest total of the week.

Fitbit III: Week 13

We are one step closer to tying last summer’s record of 14 straight 50,000 step weeks, thanks to my highest total in 4 weeks.  Things got off to a strong start on Sunday, thanks to a tilt between the White Sox and Indians at Guaranteed Rate Field followed by Michael’s birthday celebration at Outback Steakhouse.  Monday scored an impressive total of over 12,000 steps, thanks to an after-work session trying to get the Mercury out of the garage and running again.  Tuesday was even better, falling less than 200 steps short of 13,000 due to another trip to the South Side, minus a parking pass.  Wednesday fell back down to my goal territory, despite trips to Target and Meijer for car fluids.  Thursday had a bit of a bounce back up nearly 9000 steps, thanks to a trip to North plaza and a few smoking breaks with Val.  Friday broke 7300 steps, with more car work.  The weather turned bad on Saturday, as rain kept me inside most of the day, leading to a disappointing total of 3100 steps.

Fitbit III: Week 12

My streak of 50,000+ step weeks hits 12 and closes on in last summer’s record of 14 straight weeks.  Things got off to a slow start on Sunday thanks to Easter activities, which left me just under 2500 steps.  A big bounce back once the work week got under way, as I put together a streak of 3 10,000 step days.  Monday benefited from a midday escape to bowl with my friends from the lab.  Tuesday had a lunch meeting in North plaza, which helped boost my total.  Wednesday was more time spent with my lab friends, including a game (or 2) of ping pong.  Thursday surpassed 9000 steps, thanks to more time up in the lab and then an after work farewell to Hayley.  Friday managed to just surpass 6500 steps, thanks to more time spent in the lab with Val.  Saturday finished with a little more thanks to the White Sox/Indians tilt at Guaranteed Rate Field.
