Fitbit Week 33

Week33_FBThe week after vacation is always disappointing, and this was no different, as I put up my lowest total the middle of June.  Things got off to a decent start on Sunday with a trip to US Cellular Field, followed by a trip out for dinner.  The work week was decent, if unspectacular.  No day particularly stands out.  Saturday was the bummer of the week, as I failed to crack 5000 steps, thanks to Danny and Michael being over all day.

Fitbit Week 32

Week32_FBThere’s something about being on vacation out of town that seems to get me moving, and last week was no different.  In fact, it was the most successful week I’ve had since I started tracking such things over 5 years ago, finishing with nearly 100,000 steps.  2 of the days have found themselves in my Top 5 step days.

Things got of to a tremendous start on Sunday, when I found myself doing more exploring of the greater Toronto metropolitan area, including the Royal Ontario Museum and, at night, the Molson Canadian Ampitheatre for the Oddball Comedy Fest.  The day’s total of 18,259 placed it as my 3rd most successful step day.  Monday we left Toronto behind and headed to Niagara Falls, where walking back and forth across the falls left me just shy of 14,000 steps.

Tuesday found me in Cooperstown, NY for a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame, which left me with close to 11,000 steps.  Wednesday was the lowlight of the week, with much of the day spent driving back to Toronto.  Still, the day ended up at nearly 9000 steps, thanks to dinner at the CN Tower.  Thursday was back to nearly 11,000 steps, thanks to the AC/DC concert at Downsview Park.

Friday, my last day in Toronto, ended up being another huge success, with 17,889 steps, my 4th most successful day, thanks to trips to the Eaton Centre mall, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and a few other stops.  Saturday managed to just pass 10,000 steps, despite spending 8 hours in the car driving home, thanks to a trip to US Cellular Field to see the White Sox defeat the Twins.

Moving On To Next Year

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at Los Angeles DodgersMajor League Baseball released their tentative 2016 schedule yesterday and, with little more to be concerned with for this season, let’s take a look at what’s on tap for next summer for the South Siders.

The White Sox open the season with a 4 game set on the road against the A’s on Monday, April 4.  The home season begins that Friday, when the Indians come to town for a 3 game tilt.

This year’s inter-league slate is against the NL East, with the Nationals, Braves, and Phillies making trips to US Cellular Field, while the Sox hit the road to visit the Mets, Marlins, and Phillies.  A 2 and 2 set with the Cubs occurs the last week of July.

The White Sox finish the 2016 season at home against the Rays and Twins, with 23 of their final 29 games coming against the Central Division.  Should make for a great pennant race if the team can be in contention.

Fitbit Week 31

Week31_FBAnother successful week, saved by a very impressive day at the end to boost the totals above blah.  Things got off to an unassuming start with Kid’s Day at US Cellular Field on Sunday, where the White Sox managed to sneak past the Mariners in extra innings.  Monday’s afternoon coffee run helped to bump it up over the 7000 step mark.  Tuesday through Thursday were all touch and go, but did all manage to cross the 5500 step barrier.

Most of Friday was spent in a car driving to Canada, but I still managed to just barely cross 6000 steps, thanks to my running around in the morning to pack and then briefly walking around the city while looking for dinner.  Saturday, however, turned things around for the week, as I broke 15,000 steps for the first time with the Fitbit and notched my 4th best total of all time.  The morning started with a walk for breakfast, followed by a trip down to the waterfront for some exploring.  After that, it was over to the Rogers Centre for exciting Blue Jays baseball, then back to the condo and, eventually, a trip out for dinner.  All told, I finished just over 16,000 steps, my highest total in over 2 years.

Fitbit Week 29

Week29_FBA decent week, despite my lowest total since the end of June.  Things got off to a decent start on Sunday, thanks to the final contest of the year between the Cubs and White Sox at US Cellular Field.  Monday gave me my third consecutive week with a 10,000 step day, thanks to a post-work walk around the neighborhood.  The rest of the work week was pretty normal.  Sadly, Saturday failed to pass my daily target thanks to a raging toothache that kept me in bed most of the day.

Fitbit Week 27

Week27_FBAnother pretty good week, as my streak of days surpassing my daily goal of 5500 steps reached 49 days and, after a week off, I managed to surpass 10,000 steps during the week.  Things got off to a slowish start on Sunday, where a trip to US Cellular Field was barely able to push me past my goal.  Monday got the work week off to a decent start, followed by Tuesday’s 10,000 step day, thanks to after-work activities with Danny and Michael.

Wednesday consisted of 2 trips over to North Plaza, which made for an impressive total.  Thursday was the ISG picnic, which made for some extra steps.  Friday again had some after work activities, again with Danny and Michael.  Saturday was a day without baseball, yet managed to again barley pass my daily goal.

Fitbit Week 25

Week25_FBAnother successful week, although I did put up my lowest total in a month.  However, I managed to extend my streak of 5500 step days to 35 days and now have 5 consecutive weeks with a 10,000 step day and 4 with multiple 10,000 step days.

The week got off to a good start on Sunday, where I combined an afternoon game at US Cellular Field with a trip downtown at night for the 2005 White Sox reunion at the Chicago Theatre.  Monday was a normal work day, followed by Tuesday, our first 10,000 step day of the week, thanks to meetings in Willow that I decided to walk to.  Wednesday was another 10,000 step day, with a post-work trip down to US Cellular for yet another game.  Thursday was another normal work day, followed by a day off on Friday and another morning walk around the neighborhood.  Saturday was my first non-baseball weekend day in a while, and it barely eked by the 5500 step mark.

Week24_FBAnother tremendous week, my third in a row over 60,000 steps.  My streak of 6000 step days came to an end on Sunday, but my streak of days over goal stretched to 28 days.  Sunday’s slightly disappointing total came about thanks to a trip to Wrigley Field for the final game of the first Crosstown Cup installment.  Monday and Tuesday, with no baseball thanks to the All Star break, broke the 10,000 step barrier.  Wednesday and Thursday were normal work days, with afternoon coffee runs helping me surpass my daily goal.  Friday started off with a morning walk, followed by a trip to US Cellular Field for a Jose Abreu blanket, ending with nearly 13,000 steps.  Saturday featured a return trip to the Cell.

Week23_FB

Another tremendous week, surpassing last week as my best week since heading to Disney World in 2013, with every day once again over 6000 steps and the streak extended to 20 days.  Sunday got the week off to a good start thanks to baseball at US Cellular Field, followed by a trip out for dinner to celebrate my sister’s birthday.  Monday and Tuesday both passed the 10,000 step plateau thanks to work followed by baseball.  Wednesday and Thursday were normal work situations with the afternoon coffee run helping to push me over the line.  Friday was a day off, so I took an early morning walk around the neighborhood, then ran some errands and nearly passed 10,000 steps for the third time.  Saturday entailed a trip to Wrigley Field for some crosstown action, my fourth baseball trip of the week.
