With 2 weeks to go until Opening Day, the FedEx guy delivered my second package of tickets, and good lord, the Cubs hit a home run this year. Let’s start with the big box.

Nothing special here, which makes the awesomeness that was inside all the more of a surprise. First, the autographed Starlin Castro ball.

This “gift” was the bribe to not pay by credit card when re-upping. This was much better than last year’s reward, which didn’t arrive until mid August. Next was the unexpected season ticket holder’s gift.

In years past, I have received a license plate frame, a cap, and several calendars, so this little beauty was a bit of a shock. Now, let’s get down to the main event. Here’s the book of tickets:

The different logos across the top are just the start of this beautiful package. Rather than just repackage photos of the stars of yesteryear once again, they have used Topps baseball cards. As a former collector, I heartily approve. Now, onto the tickets themselves, which continue the card motif.

What a beautiful sight. Each ticket has a different card featuring a Cub from years past. The most surprising of these is the inclusion of Sammy Sosa, who has pretty much been persona non grata since his trade to the Orioles. Seriously, who wouldn’t look forward to going to the Ron Cey game?
