Prolific Authors

Since I haven’t finished a book in a while (although I should get one done soon), I thought I would take a look back at the authors I have read the most.  Since I started keeping track, I have read books by 181 different authors, but we will only be looking at those whom I have read more than once.

Author Name Total
Nancy Holder 13
Christopher Golden 12

Most, if not all of these are due to Buffy and Angel tie-in novels.

Greg Rucka 11
Stephen King 9

Strange that these two are bunched together, as I have read all of Rucka’s non-tie-in work, and I haven’t read anything by King in years. That may change next year, though.

Michael Jan Friedman 8

Another author of tie-in novels, mostly Star Trek: TNG and Lois & Clark.

Michael Crichton 7

Just added to this total earlier this year.

Peter David 7
Brad Meltzer 7

Two comic writers, one whom I’ve focused on their Star Trek work and the other their straight novels.

William Shatner 5

Assuming, of course, that he really had anything to do with the novels attributed to his name.

Scott Turow 5

Another author who I used to read regularly and then moved away from until recently.

Diane Carey 4
Diana G. Gallagher 4

More tie-in novels.

John Grisham 4
Jeffery Deaver 4
John R. Maxim 3

Not sure why I stopped picking up Grisham’s work and Deaver I usually find in the remainder pile. I would like to read more from John R. Maxim, but can’t really find any.

John Vornholt 3
Jeff Mariotte 3

Another group of media tie-in novelists.

Scott Adams 3

Business books that double as Dilbert collections.

Stieg Larsson 3

Sadly, the only three that he wrote before his untimely death.

Kevin J. Anderson 3
Timothy Zahn 3

X-Files and Star Wars novels here, with Zahn giving us the post-Jedi sequels that George Lucas never will.

David Fisher 2
Melissa Metz 2
Diane Duane 2
Keith R. A. DeCandido 2

More writers of tie-in novels.

Paul Reiser 2

Written comedy back when I would read such a thing and enjoy it.

Laura Caldwell 2
Max Barry 2

Two completely different novelists that I enjoy for totally different reasons.

Charles Grant 2
Richard Castle 2

More TV tie-in novels.

James Ellroy 2

Safe to say 2 1/2 at this point.

Kathy Reichs 2
Gillian Flynn 2

Anxiously awaiting the next outing from Gillian Flynn.

Jay Johnstone 2
Howard Weinstein 2
Thomas Harris 2
Howard Stern 2
Homer 2
Richard Roeper 2
Yvonne Navarro 2
Ron Luciano 2
Bill Carter 2
George Orwell 2
