Fitbit Week 42

Week42_FB

The week got off to a decent start thanks to some above-average weather on Sunday, leading to a nice outdoor walk around the neighborhood.  The workweek was pretty normal, with an outsized total on Wednesday thanks to after-work drinks.  My Thanksgiving vacation began on Friday, and I managed to surpass the 5500 step mark despite watching both parts of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.  Saturday also managed to sneak past the 5500 step mark, giving me my first week where every day was above goal in about a month.

Fitbit Week 41

Week41_FBA disappointing week, with 2 days falling under my 5500 step goal, and ending with my lowest total since late April.  The week got off to a slow start on Sunday, where I lounged around the house all day and finished under 5000 steps.  Monday bounced back with nearly 7000 steps, but Tuesday fell below 5000 once again, thanks to missing an afternoon coffee run.  The rest of the work week went back to normal, all finishing well above the 5500 step goal.  Saturday also managed to hit the goal, thanks to a trip to the grocery store and some gallivanting around the house.

Fitbit Week 40

Week40_FBThe week got off to a disappointing start, as birthday celebrations for me, Angelina, and Danny meant falling under my daily goal on Sunday.  Things picked up was the work week started, and the temperatures jumped up to an unseasonably warm 70 degrees.  The big day of the week was Saturday, as Danny, Michael, and I headed down to West Lafayette for Purdue’s homecoming, where they embarrassed themselves against Illinois.  Thankfully, the travels across campus did not result in an embarrassing step total for me, garnering my only 10,000 step day of the week.

fb1-2m

Early last week, I passed the 2 million step mark for the year, well ahead of my goal.  If I were to not take another step for the next 12 weeks, I would still average more than my daily goal for the year.  This is the first time I’ve managed to surpass one of these goals that I’ve set for myself, so yay me.

Fitbit Week 39

Week39_FBAnother somewhat disappointing week, as I failed to top 50,000 steps for the second consecutive week for the first time since mid-June.  Things got off to a decent enough start on Sunday, with another nice day on Monday.  Tuesday I celebrated my birth, and my step total fell somewhat.  Wednesday was a normal workday, followed by Thursday, which barely managed to surpass my 5500 step goal.  A big rebound on Friday, thanks to a trip to the camera guy along with some other activities.  Thanks to an unending rain and continued work on clearing off the DVR, I failed to cross the 5500 step barrier on Saturday, All Hallow’s Eve.

Fitbit Week 38

Week38_FBA disappointing week, despite being over 10,000 steps above my goal.  For the first time in forever, there were two days where I failed to meet my daily total.  The week got off to a slow start on Sunday when I managed to surpass my daily goal by a whopping 45 steps.  Things picked up on Monday thanks to an afternoon trip to North for coffee.  Tuesday managed to surpass 10,000 steps thanks to a post-work trip to Wrigley Field for Game 3 of the NLCS.  Wednesday once again had a mixture of work and baseball, though less of the first and more of the second as the Cubs were eliminated from the playoffs.  Thursday was back to work for another decent day.  Things fell apart on Friday, as I left work before coffee time, and Saturday, as I worked on clearing off the DVR before Comcast makes me replace them.

Fitbit Week 37

Week37_FBA pretty good week, although my first without a 10,000 step day in 4 weeks.  The week got off to a decent, if unspectacular, start on Sunday, followed by a day off on Monday which garnered a high total thanks to a trip to Wrigley Field for Game 3 of the NLDS with Michael.  Tuesday was back to work, with Wednesday garnering the week’s highest total thanks to meetings in North Plaza.  Saturday just barely passed the 5500 step plateau, with the day spent working through the backlog on my DVR caused by playoff baseball and the night spent watching Garbage at the Riviera Theatre.

Fitbit Week 36

Week36_FBA decent, if unspectacular week, got off to a slow start on Sunday with the final game of the season at US Cellular Field.  Things picked up as the work week started, culminating in a high point on Tuesday, crossing the 10,000 step barrier thanks to walking to meetings in Willow.  The rest of the week was pretty steady, but nothing special.

Fitbit Week 35

Week35_FBThe week got off to a good start, thanks to a Sunday afternoon walk around the neighborhood.  Monday I got the sad results of my Wellbeing Assessment, which at least got me out in the afternoon for a 12,000 step day.  The rest of the work week was pretty standard, with Thursday being the low point of the week, barely surpassing my goal of 5500 steps.  Saturday surpassed my daily goal thanks to a trip to the supermarket and the second-to-last White Sox game of the season.

Sprinted And Strode Again

2015sprintstrideTwo Thursdays back, Allstate held their annual Sprint and Stride event, a 5K race around campus to benefit breast cancer research.  After successfully completing the race last year, I signed up again this year, along with some co-workers, to get out in the afternoon sun and enjoy getting paid to exercise.

The race once again started over near Willow, which meant that in addition to the 5K, there was the long walk back to South post-race.  NBC news personality and breast cancer survivor Zoraida Sambolin was back to kick off the festivities, after an annoying DJ and Allstate sponsored finished up their dog and pony show.  Once the race got going, I quickly found that, once again, things would be different than my past, non-Allstate 5K experiences.

2015sandsJust like last year, my time did not register, so I must be doing something wrong.  I must have finished somewhere between 57:32.16 and 57:41.36, which was the finishing times of the people I was with.  That’s about 2 minutes slower than last year, which I blame once again on an inability to get around slow people in front of me.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I’ll be back out there next year, once again hoping to improve my time and, probably, once again disappointed that I won’t.

Fitbit Week 34

Week34_FBA good bounce back week, with every day surpassing the 5500 step goal and 2 days up above 10,000 steps.  Things got off to a good start on Sunday, thanks to an afternoon walk around the neighborhood.  The work week was pretty good, despite missing the daily afternoon trip for coffee.  Things picked up on Thursday, thanks to the Sprint and Stride, where I somehow managed to finish the day with 13,000 steps on the nose.  Friday looked to be a dud of a day, until a post work walk boosted me up above 10,000 steps.  Saturday just squeaked past my daily goal, thanks to trips to the grocery store and Target.
