2011 Movie Review – Part 2

The 131 movies I saw last year was good (bad?) enough for 4th all time, behind only 2000, 2008, and 2001.

Now, continuing Tuesday’s look at the first batch of 50 movies that I saw last year, here are movies 51-100.

 

The Thirst (2006)
A dying girl becomes a vampire to stay alive.

 

The Good Life (2007)
A kid who doesn’t fit in meets a girl who encourages him to look beyond the town’s borders.

 

Thor (2011)
The Norse thunder god falls from grace and recovers quickly to save Asgard.

 

The American (2010)
George Clooney stars as a former hitman trying to go straight.

 

Due Date (2010)
Robert Downey Jr goes through his own Planes, Trains, and Automobiles moments while trying to get home for the birth of his child.

 

Valentine’s Day (2010)
A group of vignettes celebrating the day that celebrates love.

 

MacGruber (2010)
The latest one-note SNL sketch to get strectched out to feature length. 

Killers (2010)
A girl falls in love with a CIA assassin. 

 

Cyrus (2010)
An emotionally stunted Jonah Hill tries to sabotage his mother’s new relationship.

127 Hours (2011)

Big Fan (2009)

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest (2009)
The final part of the Swedish adaptation of the Millennium trilogy.

Catching Hell (2011)
A documentary on scapegoats in sports, focusing on Bill Buckner and Steve Bartman.

 

Sleeping Dogs Lie (2006)
A woman tells a long held secret and suffers for it.

 

The Ward (2010)
A young girl puts her mind back together.

 

Scream 4 (2011)
Self aware horror comedy for the new decade.

 

Forget Me Not (2009)
A young girl is the only one who remembers her friends after they are killed by a mystical spirit.

 

Train (2008)
A wrestling team takes the wrong train and winds up being tortured.

 

Hunger (2009)
A group of people are locked in a room to see how long they will go without eating each other.

 

Invasion (2005)
The absolute low point of the “found footage” genre.  65 minutes of voice over while a car drives through the woods and 10 minutes of people standing in front of the car.

 

Red State (2011)
Surprisingly decent film made while Kevin Smith’s professionalism blew up around it.
