Fitbit Week 22

Week22_FBA pretty spectacular week, where every day was over 6,000 steps, 5 days were above 8,000 steps, and 3 days were above 10,000 steps, which resulted in my best week since heading to Disney World 2 years ago.  Things got off to a good start on Sunday, when I took a nice long walk around the neighborhood.  Monday and Tuesday both saw me taking some time during the work day to explore the campus in addition to my afternoon coffee trip.  Wednesday benefited from an slightly abbreviated version of Sunday’s trip after work.  Thursday and Friday were back down to somewhat normal totals.  Saturday consisted on a trip to US Cellular Field to watch exciting White Sox baseball.

I also managed to pass 1,000,000 steps for the year this week, 4 weeks before the half way point.  While I didn’t set a specific goal, I think I’m on a good pace for surpassing my daily goal, which projects out to 2,002,000 steps.

Fitbit Week 21

Week21_FBDespite a disappointing start to the week, things picked up and I ended up with my most productive week since heading to San Diego last spring.  Sunday was Father’s Day, and despite a morning trip out for breakfast, a trip to US Cellular Field with Danny, and a post-game trip out for Father’s Day activities, I failed to make it to the 5500 step mark.  Things bounced back during the work week, as each day was over 6000 steps, in most cases well above.  The highlight of the week was Friday, despite horrific traffic that saw me spend well over 4 hours in the car to get home, with a stop at US Cellular Field for Grinder Bash.  I managed over 13,000 steps, my 14th best total ever recorded.  Saturday was Family Day at Wrigley Field, which helped boost the week’s total.

Fitbit Week 20

Week20_FBAnother decent week, with 6 of the 7 days above the 5500 step mark and the 7th falling just short.  Sunday just barely crossed the 5500 step mark, thanks to a trip to the grocery store.  The work week was its recent standard stuff, thanks to afternoon trips to North Plaza for coffee.  Saturday fell short of 5500 steps, despite a trip to US Cellular Field to see the White Sox snap their 8 game losing streak followed by a dinner party with college friends.

Fitbit Week 19

Week19_FBA disappointing week, as my streaks of 5500 step days and weeks with a 10,000 step day both came to an end, though the week itself still finished up above average.  Sunday had a trip down to US Cellular Field, but still managed to fall short of 5500 steps for the first time in 20 days.  The work week was a return to form, with every day topping 6000 steps.  Saturday again was a sub-standard day, despite a trip to the bowling alley.

Fitbit Week 17

Week17_FBAnother good week as I put together my highest total since early January, crossed the 5500 step mark every day, and surpassed 10,000 steps in a day for the third consecutive week.  Things got off to what turned out to be a slow start, with Sunday, thanks to a trip to US Cellular Field, just barely crossing the 5500 step plateau.

The work week was very successful, with Monday being the worst day, clocking in at over 6000 steps and every other day finishing above 7000 steps.  Saturday was the big day, surpassing 10,000 steps, despite spending a large portion of the day driving south to Memphis.  Fortunately, that was followed by a trip to the Memphis Zoo.  More to come on that trip.

Fitbit Week 16

Week16_FBThe week got off to a bad start, but then picked up for my third highest total in the short Fitbit era.  After a wasted Sunday, things picked up on Monday thanks to an after-work trip to US Cellular Field requiring parking north of 29th Street, giving me a total that ranks in my all-time top 10.  The rest of the work week was pretty standard, with each day’s total drifting downward as the week went on.  Saturday was up thanks to another trip to the Cell, where Paul Konerko’s jersey was retired.

Total steps: 51,868

Daily average: 7409.7

Fitbit Week 15

Week15_FBA good week, where I passed the 5500 mark each day and even broke the 11,000 step plateau for my best day yet using the Fitbit.  The week got off a decent start thanks to a Mother’s Day trip to Brookfield Zoo, although the weather made sure that it was a short trip.  Monday was a normal day of work, thanks to an afternoon coffee run.  Tuesday added to that with a trip up to Milwaukee to see the White Sox battle the Brewers at Miller Park, which accounted for the high total.  The rest of the work week enjoyed decent weather, so there was some outdoor activity along with coffee runs.  Saturday also entailed a nice walk around the neighborhood.

Total steps: 53,059

Daily average: 7579.9

Fitbit Week 14

Week14_FBAnother decent week, with only one day falling below the 5500 step mark.  Sunday got the week off to a good start thanks to some nice spring weather which enabled me to take a nice walk around the neighborhood.  Monday was helped along by an afternoon training class in Willow, enabling me to park my car there in the morning before walking over to South.  Tuesday was the best day of the week, although I have no particular recollection as to why.

Wednesday and Thursday were pretty normal workdays, with afternoon coffee runs accounting for a good part of my totals.  Friday was the lone bad day, with afternoon rains keeping everyone inside.  A double header at US Cellular Field pushed Saturday above 7000 steps, finishing the week on a high point.

The Best Email I’ve Seen All Year

Every once in a while, a ridiculous email will make its way around the office, leading to many guffaws amongst my group of smart alecks.  Today, was one of those days, where the most ridiculous email I’ve seen in quite some time came through the old inbox.

To set the stage, one of those smart alecks is expecting a new arrival to his family in the coming weeks.  To celebrate, an email was sent out yesterday soliciting funds for gifts and a cake.  The subject line pretty much gave away the whole deal: Pete’s having a baby!  This reply was priceless.

BabyEmailPlease clarify what this means?  Is there anything unclear about “Pete’s having a baby!”?  I don’t know how you get much more explicit than that.

Fitbit Week 11

Week11_FBAnother good week, and the consecutive days over 5,500 steps streak stretches to 14, my longest streak since January.  Sunday got the week off to a good start thanks to a trip to US Cellular Field for exciting White Sox baseball.  Monday was a typical work day, with the afternoon coffee run pushing me over the top.  Tuesday was a WFH day, which usually means an off day, but taking my mom for eye surgery meant a lot of waiting around.  That led to my best single day total since the Sprint & Stride race in September.  Wednesday was back to the office for the rest of the week.  Saturday avoided its usual paltry total thanks to a morning walk around the neighborhood followed by a trip to the store for a new backpack.
