Review \u2013 Movies Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like <a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2011\/01\/2010-review-movies\/\" target=\"_blank\">last year<\/a>, I&#8217;m going to take a look back at the movies I saw during the previous year.\u00a0 When not working, watching too much TV, going to baseball games, or reading, I managed to watch 131 new movies last year.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie Portman starred in 4 films I saw\u00a0for the yearly lead, with Leonardo DiCaprio coming in second with 3.<\/p>\n<p>For fun, here\u2019s a quick review of the first 50 films\u00a0I saw last year\u00a0and what recollection, if any, I have of them.\u00a0 They are listed in the order I saw them.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Vicky Cristina Barcelona<\/em> (2008)<\/strong><br \/>\n2 vacationing American\u00a0girls fall in love with the same Spanish painter.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong><em>Night At the Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian<\/em> (2009)<\/strong><br \/>\nI never saw the first one, but Amy Adams was enough of a draw to give this one a chance.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Splice<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nAn entertaining look at what happens when scientists worry more about what they can do instead of what they should do.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong><em>The Kids Are All Right<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe children of two lesbians go searching for their father.\u00a0 My first exposure to\u00a0Mia Wasikowska, who I think has a chance to\u00a0be really good.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Bandslam<\/em> (2009)<\/strong><br \/>\nA kid obsessed with music lies about his father in order to fit in.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>All Good Things<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nRyan Gosling kills Kirsten Dunst, and then dresses up in womens clothing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Frozen<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nA very engaging tale of three friends stuck on a\u00a0ski lift for a week.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Catch Me If You Can<\/em> (2002)<\/strong><br \/>\nTom Hanks\u00a0goes looking for Leonardo DiCaprio.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Inception<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nLeonardo DiCaprio (him again?) looks for secrets in other people&#8217;s dreams while avoiding his own.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><!--more--><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Night Of The Demons<\/em> (2009)<\/strong><br \/>\nA bad remake of a bad 80s horror film.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Unhitched<\/em> (2005)<\/strong><br \/>\nAmy Smart was in this.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The\u00a0A-Team<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nA decently fun romp with lots of explosions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>True Grit<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nOscar bait\u00a0remake\u00a0featuring a standout performance by\u00a0Hailee Steinfeld.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The\u00a0Other Guys<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nWill Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg star as cops\u00a0working a\u00a0case out of their element.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Salt<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nAngelina\u00a0Jolie is a double (or was it triple?) agent.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Saw 3D<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe end(?) of the original torture porn series.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It&#8217;s Kind Of A Funny Story<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nA kid makes some new\u00a0friends and learns about life when he checks himself in to a mental institution.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The\u00a0Town<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nBen Affleck directs a crime drama.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Shutter Island<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nLeonardo DiCaprio investigates the goings on at a mental asylum, or is one of the patients.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>National Lampoon&#8217;s Animal House<\/em> (1978)<\/strong><br \/>\nSo it took me a little longer to see this than most people my age.\u00a0 Give me a break.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Resident Evil: Afterlife<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe latest installment in the video game-inspired franchise.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Machete<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nA surprisingly good grindhouse film.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Trick &#8216;R Treat<\/em> (2007)<\/strong><br \/>\nA rather effective horror anthology.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Paranormal Activity 2<\/em> (2010)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe follow up to last year&#8217;s surprise
