After three years without contact, Frank Szatowski is surprised when his daughter Maggie calls him to tell her about her engagement.\u00a0 After an uneasy dinner with Maggie and her fianc\u00e9 in Boston, Frank returns to Pennsylvania concerned, but excited for the happy day.\u00a0 When he arrives in a small New Hampshire town to attend\u00a0the wedding at the groom’s family’s private estate, his concern returns.\u00a0 As the weekend goes on, Frank focuses on reconnecting with Maggie and getting to know her new family, but it\u2019s difficult.\u00a0 As events unfold, Frank needs to know more about this family his daughter is marrying into, but can he without losing Maggie forever?<\/p>\n

Jason Rekulak returns with The Last One at the Wedding<\/em>.\u00a0 Unlike his previous<\/a> work, which fell more in the horror genre, this is more of a straight mystery and even landed on the nominee list for the 2024 Goodreads Choice Award for Favorite Mystery & Thriller.\u00a0 While I liked the overall story, I felt like the stakes were kind of low, as the main character is on the periphery of the mystery and not directly involved.\u00a0 That said, it was a solid, if not spectacular, effort and I look forward to more from him in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
