{"id":9716,"date":"2016-01-24T17:17:47","date_gmt":"2016-01-24T23:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/?p=9716"},"modified":"2016-01-22T20:01:02","modified_gmt":"2016-01-23T02:01:02","slug":"midseason-review-sundays-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2016\/01\/midseason-review-sundays-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Midseason Review \u2013 Sundays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/old-tv-set1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2460\" src=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/old-tv-set1.jpg\" alt=\"old-tv-set1\" width=\"315\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/old-tv-set1.jpg 315w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/old-tv-set1-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 315px) 100vw, 315px\" \/><\/a>With the advent of winter premieres, the start of the premium cable network shows,\u00a0and with February sweeps around the corner, it\u2019s time to revisit my thoughts from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/2015-new-fall-season-sundays\/\">beginning<\/a>\u00a0of the season and look ahead at what\u2019s to come for Sunday nights.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7:00<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Once Upon A Time<\/em> &#8211; The fairy tale show is back for season 5, after an uptick in quality during the past season.\u00a0 With little else in competition, I see no reason not to continue turning in.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I must say, I wasn&#8217;t hugely enamored with the first half of the season, thanks to the &#8220;Emma is the Dark One&#8221; storyline. \u00a0With that wrapped up, hopefully the back half is more to my liking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7:30<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em> &#8211; FOX&#8217;s comedy hit returns for its 3rd season amid little like-minded competition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Still funny, but now airing on Tuesdays in a revamped comedy block from FOX.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8:00<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Good Wife<\/em> &#8211; After a so-so season that saw Alicia running for states attorney and mostly separated from the rest of the cast, the 7th season finds Julianna Marguiles surrounding herself with a whole new crew.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The signs of aging are starting to show, but it is still one of the more enjoyable hours of my week. \u00a0With the Peter running for President storyline having wrapped up, the show faces a fresh path forward, though rumors do persist that this will be the last season.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The\u00a0Leftovers<\/em> &#8211; After burning through the original source material in season 1, Damon Lindelof and crew have a whole new location for season 2, as the survivors move on to a town where nobody departed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Season 2, which can only be described as brilliantly absurd, ended in December. \u00a0The show was renewed for a brief 3rd season to wrap things up.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Homeland<\/em> &#8211; The fifth season starts with Carrie Mathison having left the CIA behind, but I&#8217;m sure she will be pulled back in to the fold relatively quickly.\u00a0 Last season proved the show could continue without Damian Lewis on board as Brody, but I think they&#8217;ll want Claire Danes back in the middle of things sooner rather than later.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It was a bit of a down season for <em>Homeland<\/em>, which wrapped up last month. \u00a0Hopefully, it can find its footing moving forward.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Walking Dead<\/em> &#8211; We return to the zombie apocalypse\u00a0in mid-October, with the gang becoming part of the problem in their idyllic new home.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>More of the same from our favorite group of zombie-fighters, who return next month to finish up the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9:00<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Quantico <\/em>&#8211; Prized FBI recruits become the prime suspects in a bombing in this new show.\u00a0 With little else on at the same time, I will give it a chance to impress.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Probably the best new network show of the season, <em>Quantico<\/em> has been very entertaining. \u00a0I just don&#8217;t see how they can keep the conceit up beyond one season.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Affair<\/em> &#8211; The 2nd season had better pick up the pace over the 1st, or I might just call it a day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One of those shows where, when I&#8217;m watching it, I&#8217;m into it. \u00a0Getting up for watching it in the first place is more of a struggle than it should need to be.<\/p>\n<p>So that\u2019s where we stand with the shows I planned to watch in the fall.
