{"id":8912,"date":"2016-01-04T09:58:03","date_gmt":"2016-01-04T15:58:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/?p=8912"},"modified":"2015-12-31T17:07:39","modified_gmt":"2015-12-31T23:07:39","slug":"52-books-in-52-weeks-2016-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2016\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks-2016-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"52 Books in 52 Weeks \u2013 2016 Edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2220\" src=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf.jpg\" alt=\"bookshelf\" width=\"307\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf.jpg 512w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf-90x90.jpg 90w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 307px) 100vw, 307px\" \/><\/a>A new year is once again upon us, and it is time to start year\u00a0seven of\u00a0the goal to read a book a week for the entire year,\u00a0totaling\u00a052 books in 52 weeks.\u00a0 In\u00a0<a title=\"52 Books in 52 Weeks\" href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks\/\">year one<\/a>, I only made it to 8 books.\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"52 Books in 52 Weeks \u2013 2011 Edition\" href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2011\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks-2011-edition\/\">Year two<\/a>\u00a0doubled that total.\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"52 Books in 52 Weeks \u2013 2012 Edition\" href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks-%e2%80%93-2012-edition\/\">Year three<\/a>\u00a0used\u00a0graphic novels to improve once again, finishing with 24.\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"52 Books in 52 Weeks \u2013 2013 Edition\" href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks-2013-edition\/\">Year four<\/a> was the first where I dropped from the year before, only finishing 18 books, which was well\u00a0short of the ultimate goal. \u00a0<a title=\"2014: The Year In Books\" href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2014\/12\/2014-the-year-in-books\/\">Two years ago<\/a>, I bounced back to finish with 23 books. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2015\/12\/2015-the-year-in-books\/\">Last year<\/a>, I had my best year since starting this challenge, not to mention my best reading year ever, finishing with 31 books.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to give it another go this year.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got a few new books loaded in the Kindle app on my iPad, plus a few new purchases from Amazon, not to mention birthday and Christmas presents, so I\u2019ve got a good pile to start with.\u00a0 As a reminder, the rules I am using are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can count a book as read as long as you have completed the book in 2016 and at least 50% of that reading takes place in 2016<\/li>\n<li>Any book counts as long as you\u2019re not embarrassed to count it.<\/li>\n<li>Poetry collections do indeed count.<\/li>\n<li>Re-reading a book is okay as long as it isn\u2019t done this year.
