2013 was again an off year in movie watching for me.\u00a0\u00a0I managed to watch only\u00a061 movies last year, one less than 2012 and my\u00a0second consecutive\u00a0year under 100.\u00a0 Again, many things contributed to this, chiefly the insane amount of TV I\u2019ve been watching and the awful amount of time I spend either at work or getting to and from work.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s a look back at the first 50 movies I did manage to watch last year and what recollection, if any,\u00a0I have of them. The films are listed in the order I saw them.<\/p>\n

\nA Jennifer Lopez throwback to start off the year.<\/p>\n
\nThis was not a good movie.<\/p>\n
\nThis also was not a good movie. I’m not getting the year started right.<\/p>\n
\nA work outing is the only reason I saw this film.<\/p>\n
\nSometimes you can go home again. And sometimes you shouldn’t.<\/p>\n
\nRobert Downey Jr. returns as the great British detective.<\/p>\n
\nCharlize Theron and Patton Oswalt team up for this strong tale.<\/p>\n
\nI streamed this disturbing picture on the iPad.<\/p>\n
\nA surprisingly good comedy.<\/p>\n
\nNot good at all.<\/p>\n
\nAs a fan of boardgame-based films, this one wasn’t particularly good, but not as bad as expected.<\/p>\n
\nJennifer Lawrence puts in her obligatory horror film.<\/p>\n
\nThe Dax Shepard\/Kristen Bell production was better than it had any right to be.<\/p>\n
\nPaul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston team up in their latest, nondescript romcom.<\/p>\n
\nWhat was I just saying about going to the well one too many times?<\/p>\n
\nMichelle Williams did not make a very convincing Marilyn Monroe.<\/p>\n
\nA surprisingly charming movie given the crassness of Seth MacFarlane.<\/p>\n
\nA decent entry from Adam Sandler, something you don’t see much of anymore.<\/p>\n
\nJulia Stiles tries to be normal while surrounded by a crazy family.<\/p>\n
\nWacky kids look for an adventure in a Russian wasteland.<\/p>\n
\n4 years after seeing the play in London’s West End, I finally saw the movie.<\/p>\n
\nA short that doesn’t have much to offer other than a topless scene by Emma Caulfield.<\/p>\n
\nThe first was a surprisingly well done horror comedy. This sequel was not.<\/p>\n
\nI don’t have a clue what this one was about.<\/p>\n
\nJoseph Gordon-Levitt fights cancer with humor.<\/p>\n
\nJoseph Gordon-Levitt goes for an exciting bike ride.<\/p>\n
\nCan you have a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne? Yes. Should you? No.<\/p>\n
\nA slight misstep by JJ Abrams by trying to remake Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.<\/p>\n
\nThe first follow up to the Avengers<\/em> has Iron Man feeling the after effects of the battle in New York.<\/p>\n
\nBen Affleck’s Oscar winner about the rescue of American hostages in Iran.<\/p>\n
\nJoseph Gordon-Levitt grows up to be Bruce Willis.<\/p>\n
\nJessica Chastain leads the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.<\/p>\n
\nA direct sequel of the original film, despite occurring 40 years later.<\/p>\n
\nI did have some issues with the latest reboot of the Superman series, but overall it was a decent film.<\/p>\n
\nThe classic fairy tale gets a drug-fueled makeover.<\/p>\n
\nThe first film I saw this year featuring the lovely and talented Emma Watson.<\/p>\n
\nThe film that got Jennifer Lawrence an Academy Award.<\/p>\n
\nThe second film I saw this year featuring the lovely and talented Emma Watson.<\/p>\n
\nA psychopath attacks people trapped in an ATM vestibule.<\/p>\n
\nMy first time seeing the horror classic.<\/p>\n
\nThe latest installment in this tired franchise.<\/p>\n
\nAfter being declared dead, a missing man returns, but has changed for the worse.<\/p>\n
\nLove turns zombies back into humans.<\/p>\n
\nA lame slasher film that is somewhat redeemed only by the outlandish reveal at the end.<\/p>\n
\nA family deals with the possession of their child while facing the truth of the past.<\/p>\n
\nProbably not the best choice for my first exposure to the Apes franchise.<\/p>\n
\nNot really the movie I expected at all. Only worth watching for all the bikini shots of Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens.<\/p>\n
\nJessica Chastain takes in family that may bring a strange force with them.<\/p>\n
\nIn the aftermath of the Doctor’s 50th, I watched the FOX made-for-TV movie from 1996 that was the only appearance of the 8th Doctor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
