{"id":4616,"date":"2013-09-20T07:57:32","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T13:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/?p=4616"},"modified":"2013-09-19T20:31:17","modified_gmt":"2013-09-20T02:31:17","slug":"2013-emmy-awards-drama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/2013-emmy-awards-drama\/","title":{"rendered":"2013 Emmy Awards &#8211; Drama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the\u00a0Emmy Awards scheduled for Sunday night, it&#8217;s time for day three of my predictions for the\u00a0awards, today focusing on Drama shows.\u00a0 I most likely have seen most of these shows, so, unlike my annual Oscar predictions, I will not mostly be going on gut feel and word of mouth, but will have a somewhat informed decision.<\/p>\n<h3>Outstanding Drama<\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>Breaking Bad<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Downton Abbey<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Game of Thrones<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>House of Cards<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Homeland<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mad Men<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is a tough one, as I can see either <em>Breaking Bad<\/em>, <em>Downton Abbey<\/em>, or <em>Game of Thrones<\/em> taking home the prize. \u00a0Given the amount of press it is getting in its now airing final season, my guess is that <em>Breaking Bad<\/em> takes home the prize.<\/p>\n<h3>Outstanding Actress In A Drama<\/h3>\n<p>Connie Britton, <em>Nashville<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Claire Danes, <em>Homeland<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Michelle Dockery, <em>Downton Abbey<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Vera Farmiga, <em>Bates Motel<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Elisabeth Moss, <em>Mad Men<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kerry Washington, <em>Scandal<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Robin Wright, <em>House of Cards<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I think Claire Danes will take this for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<h3>Outstanding Actor In A Drama<\/h3>\n<p>Hugh Bonneville, <em>Downton Abbey<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bryan Cranston, <em>Breaking Bad<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jeff Daniels, <em>The Newsroom<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jon Hamm, <em>Mad Men<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Damian Lewis, <em>Homeland<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kevin Spacey, <em>House of Cards<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Damian Lewis took this award last year, but I think this will be <em>Breaking Bad<\/em>&#8216;s night, which means that Bryan Cranston will have another trophy to lord over the Adam Carollas of the world.<\/p>\n<h3><!--more-->Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama<\/h3>\n<p>Anna Gunn, <em>Breaking Bad<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Maggie Smith, <em>Downton Abbey<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Emilia Clarke, <em>Game of Thrones<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Christine Baranski, <em>The Good Wife<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Morena Baccarin, <em>Homeland<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Christina Hendricks, <em>Mad Men<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Just like the comedy version of this category, I think Emmy voters will go with what they know and give Maggie Smith another victory, her second consecutive.<\/p>\n<h3>Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama<\/h3>\n<p>Bobby Cannavale, <em>Boardwalk Empire<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Banks, <em>Breaking Bad<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Aaron Paul, <em>Breaking Bad<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jim Carter, <em>Downton Abbey<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Peter Dinklage, <em>Game of Thrones<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mandy Patinkin, <em>Homeland<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I expect that Aaron Paul will continue to give <em>Breaking Bad<\/em> a night to remember.<\/p>\n<h3>Outstanding\u00a0Guest Actress In A Drama<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Margo Martindale, <em>The Americans<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Diana Rigg, <em>Game of Thrones<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Carrie Preston, <em>The Good Wife<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Linda Cardellini, <em>Mad Men<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jane Fonda, <em>The Newsroom<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Joan Cusack, <em>Shameless<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not exactly sure how Joan Cusack qualifies as a guest on Shameless as she&#8217;s in nearly every episode if not every episode, but it&#8217;s a moot point either way. \u00a0I think Margo Martindale takes home the award for her work as a Soviet spy handler in 1980s America.<\/p>\n<h3>Outstanding\u00a0Guest Actor In A Drama<\/h3>\n<p>Nathan Lane, <em>The Good Wife<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Michael J.
