With the\u00a0Emmy Awards scheduled for Sunday night, here\u2019s my predictions for the\u00a0awards for Comedy shows.\u00a0 I most likely have seen most of these shows, so, unlike my annual Oscar predictions, I will not mostly be going on gut feel and word of mouth, but will have a somewhat informed decision.<\/p>\n
30 Rock<\/em><\/p>\n The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/p>\n Girls<\/em><\/p>\n Louie<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Modern Family<\/em><\/p>\n Veep<\/em><\/p>\n The sentimental favorite would be the final season of 30 Rock<\/em>, but my feeling is it will end up being one of the two critical darlings, Louie<\/em> or Girls<\/em>.\u00a0 I’m going to go with Louie<\/em>, as there may be a backlash against Girls<\/em> and Lena Dunham.<\/p>\n Laura Dern, Enlightened<\/em><\/p>\n Lena Dunham, Girls<\/em><\/p>\n Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie<\/em><\/p>\n Tina Fey, 30 Rock<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep <\/em><\/p>\n Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation<\/em><\/p>\n I think this category is where 30 Rock<\/em> gets celebrated and\u00a0creator, writer, and star Tina Fey will take home the statue.<\/p>\n Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock<\/em><\/p>\n Jason Bateman, Arrested Development<\/em><\/p>\n Louis CK, Louie<\/em><\/p>\n Don Cheadle, House of Lies<\/em><\/p>\n Matt LeBlanc, Episodes<\/em><\/p>\n Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n While I can see Jason Bateman pulling an upset, I think the Netflix-based release of Arrested Development<\/em> will work against him here.\u00a0 My guess is Jim Parsons takes home the hardware for his role on the top rated comedy on television.<\/p>\n Mayim Bialik, The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/p>\n Jane Lynch, Glee<\/em><\/p>\n Julie Bowen, Modern Family<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Merritt Wever, Nurse Jackie<\/em><\/p>\n Jane Krakowski, 30 Rock<\/em><\/p>\n Sofia Vergara, Modern Family<\/em><\/p>\n Anna Chlumsky, Veep<\/em><\/p>\n While the show may have been off a bit last season, I think Emmy voters will go with what they know and give Julie Bowen another victory.<\/p>\n Adam Driver, Girls<\/em><\/p>\n Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Modern Family<\/em><\/p>\n Ed O\u2019Neill, Modern Family<\/em><\/p>\n Ty Burrell,<\/strong> Modern Family<\/em><\/p>\n Bill Hader, Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/p>\n Tony Hale, Veep<\/em><\/p>\n This might have been the hardest category to choose, with all of the Modern Family noms surrounded by people who may be deserving, but have no shot of winning.\u00a0 I’ll go with Ty Burrell and hope for the best.<\/p>\n Molly Shannon, Enlightened<\/em><\/p>\n Dot-Marie Jones, Glee<\/em><\/p>\n Melissa Leo, Louie<\/em><\/p>\n Melissa McCarthy,<\/strong> Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/p>\n Kristen Wiig, Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/p>\n Elaine Stritch, 30 Rock<\/em><\/p>\n Honestly, I don’t have much of an opinion here, so I’ll go with local girl Melissa McCarthy.<\/p>\n Bob Newhart, The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Nathan Lane, Modern Family<\/em><\/p>\n Bobby Cannavale, Nurse Jackie<\/em><\/p>\n Louis CK, Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/p>\n Justin Timberlake, Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/p>\n Will Forte, 30 Rock<\/em><\/p>\n While I think Justin Timberlake deserves the award for his always amazing hosting gigs on SNL, my guess is that comedy legend Bob Newhart will take home the prize for his sendup of Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye the Science Guy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" With the\u00a0Emmy Awards scheduled for Sunday night, here\u2019s my predictions for the\u00a0awards for Comedy shows.\u00a0 I most likely have seen most of these shows, so, unlike my annual Oscar predictions, I will not mostly be going on gut feel and word of mouth, but will have a somewhat informed decision.
