{"id":23466,"date":"2025-12-31T04:11:40","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T10:11:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/?p=23466"},"modified":"2025-12-28T15:41:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-28T21:41:07","slug":"2025-the-year-in-books","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2025\/12\/2025-the-year-in-books\/","title":{"rendered":"2025: The Year In Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025books.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23581\" src=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025books.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1100\" srcset=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025books.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025books-273x300.jpg 273w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025books-931x1024.jpg 931w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025books-768x845.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a>As 2025 comes to a close, my fifth full year of remote working, I managed to once again surpass my previous records by completing a whopping 66 books, five books more than my previous high set last year and my fifth consecutive year completing the 52 books in 52 weeks <a href=\"https:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2025\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks-2025-edition\/\">challenge<\/a>.\u00a0 I completed the challenge in mid-October and surpassed last year\u2019s total in early-December.\u00a0 I read 25,279 pages, by far my highest total of all time and just the third time I\u2019ve managed to surpass 20.000 pages.<\/p>\n<p>Of those books, only two were non-fiction and, of the remaining 64 novels, only six were tied to a TV show, either as the source material or as a tie-in.\u00a0 None of the books came out of my dwindling \u201cto-read\u201d drawer, with two hard covers, three paperbacks, 61 e-books and no audiobooks.\u00a0 I was forced to switch my library card from the Chicago Public Library to my local library, which slowed me down a little but still led to 55 of the books I consumed throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Over 71% of the books I read this year were by authors I had read before.
