{"id":23327,"date":"2026-01-02T03:35:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T09:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/?p=23327"},"modified":"2026-01-01T09:39:32","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T15:39:32","slug":"52-books-in-52-weeks-2026-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2026\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks-2026-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"52 Books in 52 Weeks \u2013 2026 Edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2220\" src=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf.jpg 512w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/bookshelf-90x90.jpg 90w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a>A new year is upon us, and it is time to once again set a goal of reading a book a week for the entire year,\u00a0totaling\u00a052 books in 52 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, for the fifth straight year, I completed my goal, finishing the year with 61 books read.\u00a0 Prior to that, I\u2019d had a low point of <a title=\"52 Books in 52 Weeks\" href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/52-books-in-52-weeks\/\">eight books <\/a>back in 2010 and a high point of <a href=\"https:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2025\/12\/2025-the-year-in-books\/\">66 books<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While I am hoping to have a better balance between reading time and exercise this year, I\u2019m going to give it another go.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got plenty of new books stocked up, both in the Kindle app on my iPad and actual physical books, not to mention my handy dandy library card, so I\u2019ve got a good pile to start with.\u00a0 As a reminder, the rules I am using are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can count a book as read as long as you have completed the book in 2026 and at least 50% of that reading takes place in 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Any book counts as long as you\u2019re not embarrassed to count it.<\/li>\n<li>Poetry collections do indeed count.<\/li>\n<li>Re-reading a book is okay as long as it isn\u2019t done this year. (Reading\u00a0<em>Twilight<\/em> twice in 2026 only counts as one read).<\/li>\n<li>Audiobooks also count.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My first book of the year looks like it will be <em>Too Old for This<\/em> by Samantha Downing.\u00a0 Here\u2019s hoping 2026 is another good year when it comes to books.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new year is upon us, and it is time to once again set a goal of reading a book a week for the entire year,\u00a0totaling\u00a052 books in 52 weeks.
