The nation\u2019s attention turns to the college hoops scene for the next few weeks as the NCAA tournament kicks off later today.\u00a0 I\u2019m not in any pools this year, so most of these selections have no ultimate bearing on my life, aside from personal pride.\u00a0 I do happen to have a hotel room booked for Houston for Final Four weekend just in case, so fingers crossed.\u00a0 So, without further ado, let\u2019s take a look at this year\u2019s selections.<\/p>\n

\"\"Alabama enters the tournament under a cloud of scandal, as their star player was recently involved in the murder of a young woman.\u00a0 Because of that, I have second seed Arizona going to the Final Four.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Fun fact: the first college basketball game I ever attended was Purdue versus Houston at Market Square Arena back in 1993.\u00a0 Both teams are top seeds in this tournament.\u00a0 It pains me to have Indiana going as far as I do, but they were a formidable opponent this year, so I see them giving the field a run for their money.\u00a0 In the end, though, I have Xavier going on to Houston.<\/p>\n

\"\"Purdue enters the tournament as a #1 seed for just the fourth time, following 1988, 1994, and 1996.\u00a0 The bad news is that the furthest they got was the Elite Eight in 1994.\u00a0 The good news is that this is the best Purdue I’ve ever seen, so hope springs eternal.<\/p>\n

\"\"Future Big Ten opponent UCLA is my choice to make it out of the West bracket.<\/p>\n
