{"id":19691,"date":"2023-01-29T07:45:13","date_gmt":"2023-01-29T13:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/?p=19691"},"modified":"2023-01-21T11:25:43","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T17:25:43","slug":"travelling-the-50-states-new-jersey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2023\/01\/travelling-the-50-states-new-jersey\/","title":{"rendered":"Travelling The 50 States \u2013 New Jersey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/usmap.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18904\" src=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/usmap.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"526\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/usmap.jpg 526w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/usmap-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px\" \/><\/a>Over my 48 years, I\u2019ve done my fair share of travelling across these United States.\u00a0 I thought it would be an interesting experiment go look back at those trips to each of the 31 states I have visited (62% isn\u2019t bad, is it?) and see if, and when, I may be returning.\u00a0 Working in alphabetical order, we continue today with the 3rd state to be added to the Union: New Jersey<\/p>\n<p><strong>State:<\/strong> New Jersey<br \/>\n<strong>Joined the Union:<\/strong> 1787<br \/>\n<strong>Visits:<\/strong> 1<\/p>\n<p>I made my first, and only, visit to the Garden State back in 2003, as the base of operations for my opening day trip to New York.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/secretstash.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19923\" src=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/secretstash.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"861\" height=\"555\" srcset=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/secretstash.jpg 861w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/secretstash-300x193.jpg 300w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/secretstash-768x495.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><\/a>A long drive on a Saturday in late March of 2003 dropped us in Newark, at the Howard Johnson near the airport.\u00a0 After getting settled, we opted for a brief nap and a few episodes of the Chappelle Show, before trying to head into Manhattan for the evening.\u00a0 Despite an airport shuttle claiming to stop at the hotel every 15-20 minutes, we waited for over an hour before catching a ride to the Newark airport, where we were finally able to take the train into New York City!\u00a0 After catching the last train back to New Jersey, we made it back to hotel for a good night&#8217;s sleep.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday morning started with a trip out to Red Bank, New Jersey for a trip to Jay &amp; Silent Bob\u2019s Secret Stash, the comic book store owned by Kevin Smith.\u00a0 We were a little early, so we went down the block to the Broadway Diner, where I enjoyed a pretty decent breakfast of strawberry and banana pancakes.
