\"\"<\/a>Six months ago<\/a>, at the dawn of the 2019 baseball season, I made my annual predictions as to who would win what. \u00a0Now that the regular season has come to an end, it is time revisit those predictions and see what, if anything, I got right.<\/p>\n

American League<\/h3>\n

East<\/strong>: Yankees<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Well, one for one so far.\u00a0 This one wasn’t particularly close, as the Yankees won 103 games and won the division by 7 games.<\/p>\n

Central<\/strong>:\u00a0Indians<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So much for going perfect.\u00a0 The Indians saw their run of 3 consecutive division titles come to an end at the hands of the upstart Twins.<\/p>\n

West<\/strong>: Astros<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Astros put up the best record in baseball, so this one was pretty much a gimme.<\/p>\n

Wild Cards:<\/strong>\u00a0Red Sox, Angels<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No and No.\u00a0 Right divisions, but the Rays and the A’s took home the Wild Cards.<\/p>\n

AL Champion:<\/strong> Astros<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This one is looking pretty good.<\/p>\n

Cy Young:<\/b> Justin Verlander<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As is this one.\u00a0 It will likely come down to him or teammate Gerrit Cole.<\/p>\n

MVP:<\/strong>\u00a0George Springer<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I think I picked the wrong Astro.<\/p>\n

National\u00a0League<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

East<\/strong>: Phillies<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I did not believe that the Braves were for real, but they were.\u00a0 The Phillies, sadly, were not.<\/p>\n

Central<\/strong>: Cardinals<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Another one I got correct!<\/p>\n

West<\/strong>: Rockies<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yeah, I was a little off here, as the Dodgers won 106 games and the Rockies finished 35 games back.<\/p>\n

Wild Cards:<\/strong> Dodgers, Nationals<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

One of these was correct.\u00a0 The Brewers join the Nationals in the Wild Card.<\/p>\n

NL Champion:<\/strong>\u00a0Cardinals<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not likely.<\/p>\n

Cy Young:<\/strong> Jacob deGrom<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A possibility.<\/p>\n

MVP:<\/strong> Paul Goldschmidt<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
