\"\"<\/a>Six months ago<\/a>, at the dawn of the 2018 baseball season, I made my annual predictions as to who would win what. \u00a0Now that the regular season has come to an end, it is time revisit those predictions and see what, if anything, I got right.<\/p>\n

American League<\/h3>\n

East<\/strong>: Yankees<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Red Sox set a franchise record in wins and have pretty much held a commanding lead for the entire season, so I was a little off here.<\/p>\n

Central<\/strong>:\u00a0Indians<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Getting this right shouldn’t really count, as the Indians are the only team in the Central to finish with a winning record.<\/p>\n

West<\/strong>: Astros<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Astros have surpassed 100 wins and are ready to defend their title.<\/p>\n

Wild Cards:<\/strong>\u00a0Red Sox, Angels<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Well, if you swap out the Red Sox and the Yankees, this doesn’t look too bad.\u00a0 The Angels, however, did not pan out and instead the A’s took the second Wild Card slot.<\/p>\n

AL Champion:<\/strong>\u00a0Yankees<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Well, they are still alive, so I guess it can still be a good pick.<\/p>\n

Cy Young:\u00a0<\/strong>Chris Sale<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This seemed like a good pick through much of the season, but a late year injury may hold him back.<\/p>\n

MVP:<\/strong>\u00a0Giancarlo Stanton<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not going to happen.\u00a0 Either Mookie Betts or Mike Trout will take home this award.<\/p>\n

National\u00a0League<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

East<\/strong>: Nationals<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Nationals faltered badly, allowing the upstart Braves to take home the division title.<\/p>\n

Central<\/strong>: Cubs<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The battle came down to the last weekend and a 163rd game yesterday, leaving the Brewers the division champs.<\/p>\n

West<\/strong>: Dodgers<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Another battle that came down to the end and another 163rd game, with the Dodgers taking home the division title.<\/p>\n

Wild Cards:<\/strong>\u00a0Rockies, Phillies<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Well, one out of 2 ain’t bad.\u00a0 The Phillies looked prime to make it as well, until they suffered their worst September since the 19th century and actually finished below .500.\u00a0 The Cubs, having blown their own division lead, take the other Wild Card spot.<\/p>\n

NL Champion:<\/strong>\u00a0Cubs<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I may be somewhat biased by the $100 wager I placed on them to win it all when I was in Vegas this spring.<\/p>\n

Cy Young:<\/strong>\u00a0Clayton Kershaw<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No<\/p>\n

MVP:<\/strong>\u00a0Bryce Harper<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
