{"id":12163,"date":"2017-10-03T09:02:41","date_gmt":"2017-10-03T15:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/?p=12163"},"modified":"2017-10-02T18:32:32","modified_gmt":"2017-10-03T00:32:32","slug":"2017-predictions-revisited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/2017-predictions-revisited\/","title":{"rendered":"2017 Predictions Revisited"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/baseballs4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-11754\" src=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/baseballs4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/baseballs4.jpg 432w, http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/baseballs4-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/learningturkey.com\/blog\/2017\/04\/2017-predictions\/\">Six months ago<\/a>, as the 2017 baseball season was scheduled to\u00a0kick off, I made my annual predictions as to who would win what. \u00a0Now that the regular season has come to an end, it is time revisit those predictions and see what, if anything, I got right.<\/p>\n<h3>American League<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><strong>East<\/strong>: Red Sox<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>1 for 1 so far, as the Red Sox held off a late surge from the Yankees to clinch on the season&#8217;s second to last day.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Central<\/strong>:\u00a0Indians<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Indians finished with the best record in the American League thanks to a 32-4 run to close out the season.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>West<\/strong>: Mariners<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, I was a little off on this one, as the Mariners finished in third place, a mere 23 games behind the Astros.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Wild Cards:<\/strong>\u00a0Blue Jays, Tigers<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Both teams finished in last place in their respective divisions, with the Tigers finishing with the worst record in baseball.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>AL Champion:<\/strong>\u00a0Red Sox<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s a good sign that my pick made the playoffs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Cy Young:\u00a0<\/strong>Chris Sale<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There is a very good possibility of this coming to fruition.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>MVP:<\/strong>\u00a0Francisco Lindor<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There is very little possibility of this coming to fruition.<\/p>\n<h3>National\u00a0League<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>East<\/strong>: Mets<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah, that one didn&#8217;t work out too well, thanks to injuries and the Mets being the Mets.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Central<\/strong>: Cubs<\/p>\n<p><strong>West<\/strong>: Dodgers<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But these two I nailed, with both clubs repeating as division champs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Wild Cards:<\/strong>\u00a0Nationals, Rockies<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I was pretty close here, with the Nationals winning their division and the Rockies securing the second Wild Card spot.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>NL Champion:<\/strong>\u00a0Dodgers<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Seemed like a better choice back in August, but they are still alive.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Cy Young:<\/strong>\u00a0Noah Syndergaard<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There is no chance of this happening.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>MVP:<\/strong>\u00a0Anthony Rizzo<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There is a slight chance of this happening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six months ago, as the 2017 baseball season was scheduled to\u00a0kick off, I made my annual predictions as to who would win what. \u00a0Now that the regular season has come to an end, it is time revisit those predictions and see what, if anything, I got right.
